Spoiler alert: the majority of American Idol voters have no idea what good music sounds like.
In case you couldn’t tell by my anger and disappointment, last night Haley Reinhart got voted off the show. You know what that means? It means that the finale is going to feature Lauren and Scotty. And that is, pardon my eloquence, dumb as a box of rocks.
It’s not that I think Lauren and Scotty are bad people, it’s just … really? Was the rest of the country watching the same show that I was watching? I sincerely don’t get it. But as a friend said to console me, it’s ok, Haley’s definitely getting a record deal, she’s going to be just fine. And as another friend said to console me when Casey Abrams went home, it’s better that the good ones don’t win the competition – just look at how successful Adam Lambert is compared to whoever it was who beat him.
I still don’t get how more people like Scotty “Baby, Lock Them Doors” McCreery more than Haley, but it’ll be ok, I’ll get over it eventually. But in the meantime, can you explain yourself, America?
It should have been James and Haley for finals. wow, a country final, gonna be a hot mess. Best moment in the video is at the 2:40 mark, Lauren gives up trying to figure out how to groove to Haley’s song, while Scotty is just ‘ska-clapping’ away, off beat, of course. Home Shopping Network must have been off the air on Wednesday night! Damn this is gonna be one butt-awful final. It could be worse than the Jordan Sparks vs. that horrible beatbox guy. Maybe.
American Idol is not about who’s the best. It’s about who’s the MOST popular. They need to change the way winners are chosen on the show. I hope Haley and James do get deals.
If this was a country music show, I could understand; however, this is suppose to be about who is the most versatile. Scotty should have been on the Nashville Now reality show.

Adam Lambert was a great singer and he did have more vocal range but Kris Allen “who beat him” sings with more mellow tones and has a much more broad fan base. If you pay attention to billboard charts you would notice he has twice the hits and four times the record sales. People that actually enjoy music doesn’t care to hear a guy pull his nuts to the back of his throat and scream high notes every other note. I mean has Adam Lambert done anything besides drugs and men I’m the last year? No disrespect meant by that comment just saying from what I have heard he has been playing the field like a true major leaguer instead of being in the studio.
