Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s Diagnosis Is a “Fun Fact”, According to E!

During last night’s Golden Globes red carpet, the E! network decided it would be cool to share some “fun facts” about various celebrities as they all arrived. Most were totally innocuous and not at all noteworthy (I don’t remember any of them), but one in particular caught everyone’s eye… and not for the reasons E! probably hoped.

E! felt that a “fun fact” to include would be Michael J. Fox‘s diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease, a disorder he has battled for over 20 years now and seems to finally have found a bit of relief from, though of course it never goes away. I doubt he would consider any part of his illness “fun”, and while I’m sure they didn’t mean any harm with this, I bet you someone (or a few someones) lost a job over this bullshit. How insensitive and idiotic can you be?

Here’s the apology issued by the network:

“We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis during our E! Online live stream. We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize.”

Huh. Basically, not sorry for what we did but sorry that people called them out for it. Ugh, whatever.

  • Ack! Get over yourselves. What , do you think Michael J Fox is going to fill out a hurt feelings report over this? I’m glad they put out the fun fact. So freaking what? Go back to your PhD in sensitivity training. All this political correctness is making me ill. It’s evil, but you wouldn’t know why.

Think about it for awhile before REACTING.

  • Fun fact: Michael J. Fox developed Parkinson’s as a result of years of abusing cocaine. But he’s considered a hero for some reason, so nobody talks about that fun fact.

  • Yes – because studies have found definitive links between cocaine use and Parkinson’s.

HAHAHA! Just kidding. They haven’t. Just like any drug, it has negative effects, but Parkinson’s is NOT an established result of cocaine abuse.

If that were true, people like Charlie Sheen would have Parkinson’s too. Think before you speak. Ok?
