Claire Danes is doing well now on Homeland — suck it, Anne Hathaway — but there was a time, a long time, when she wasn’t doing so well. Two years, in fact. And she didn’t know what to do. As she told Vogue (via Us Weekly),
It was grim. I was very hurt. Two years of not working was brutal. And a point came where I thought, ‘I really like interior design.’
They have this exquisite taste. They are very gifted in their ability to make great choices. I didn’t have that rudder.
Girl, whatever, Brokedown Palace was great. Bill Pullman was in it and he’s weirdly sexy.
Really though, Hollywood is scary as f-ck for actresses. But Danes offers some advice, and it works for women in any field:
[…] you have to ask for money because there’s always more money and they won’t give it to you because you’re a girl!
I don’t know what we’re supposed to think or feel though about Danes on the cover of “the age issue.” Jesus, Hollywood gets harsher every year, doesn’t it?
Here are two more shots from her Vogue shoot, with Damien Lewis.
