30 Rock Season Finale

I don’t understand how 30 Rock gets sketchy ratings.  I think it’s one of the best shows on television and last night’s season finale didn’t disappoint.

I’ve read before that 30 Rock is the show that every celebrity wants to appear on…it’s the major network version of Sesame Street.  How do you incorporate that many celebs with the plot of the show?  A large musical number, natch!

Cyndi Lauper, Elvis Costello (love), most of the Beastie Boys, Adam Levine, Norah Jones, Clay Aiken and Mary J. Blige came together to perform a very “We Are The World”ish song about kidney donation.  So funny.

Oh, and kidney donation is near and dear to my own heart as my own kiddo got completely ripped off in the kidney department and only has one.  Turns out, that’s all you need as long as you keep it healthy and protected.  Get a donor card, please?

  • ok, I haven’t watched the episode yet (I always wait for the next day and watch them on hulu- I have no patience to sit thru millions of commercials. so yeah I didn’t really read the post). But I LOVE 30 Rock. It’s the only amazing show on tv right now IMHO. Love it. Only started watching this season, got addicted, and rented all the other episodes. So goddamn funny, and now I have a FULL BLOWN girl crush on Tina Fey (up from a half crush).

I seriously adore it to pieces.

  • I just look at the cast of this show with the “hollywood elitism” blowing off so much superiority at me; I want to vomit at the idea of watching a minute of the show; and taking Tracy Morgan’s blatant racist commentaries and rants(but it’s ok, because he’s black and he was drinking at the time)… I will never watch this show.

Keep up the work for Donor Cards, Wendie… On a slow Lindsay/Paris day, it’d be great if you shared more stuff on this great cause.

    • you have a really strong reaction to a show you have never seen. Well, you’re missing out on awesomeness.

      ohh I just lizzed!

      • My reaction isn’t to the show, it’s to the actors in it. My strong reaction is slightly less aggressive than the guy that used to have an epileptic fit at the sound of Mary Hart’s voice; but I just don’t like them, so I choose to not watch… good luck to them; I hear it’s a critical fave, hmmmm, wonder why… but the ratings are not there. oh well…. I’m just sayin’ ( you lizzed, I beeted)

      • I would guess that it is critically acclaimed because it is SO GODDAMN FUNNY

I like how you say “hmmmm, wonder why” and again, have never seen it. If you watch it, it’s not some big mystery.

oh and the ratings prob aren’t awesome because a lot of people dvr it or just watch it online. oh, and people watch dumb shit like 2 1/2 men, so really I don’t take that as an indicator of a great show

      • Any show who’s main character is obsessed with food and sings “working on my night cheese” is going to be a winner in my book!

30 Rock is amazing and I feel sorry for people who miss out on it for whatever reason.

Living without Liz Lemon in my life would be heartbreaking.

  • I won’t watch it because of Baldwin. I hear its uber funny, but I refuse. He’s an ass.

  • Wendie :-( My niece has Kidney transplant twice. First one didnt take. She contracted some crazy virus that attacked her Kidneys & most of her internal organs when she was only two. I feel you. Thankfully for your baby, one good Kidney is all you need! My love to you & your baby!
I have a 2 1/2 yr old and I thank Gd every day for her & her health!
I’m an older Mom, 44, (But still rockin I might add!) so every day of my pregnancy was a worry day.

  • Wendie,
My niece had kidney transplant twice. 1st one did not take. Thankfully the 2nd one still kickin. She got a crazy virus when she was 2 & it attacked most of her major organs. Almost killed me!
Happy your baby is all good. One good kidney is all you need. I have a 2 1/2 yr old now, healthy & happy thanks gd! Im an “older” MOM, (44) but I rock!
    :-)

    • Glad to hear that your niece’s second transplant is doing well. I’m still on my first transplant, and I’ve been praying and thankful for 12 and a half years.

I will admit: i haven’t watched this episode of 30 Rock yet. However, I am thrilled that they are bringing up the topic of donation. People need to talk about it so much more.

Wendie, you would be surprised about how many people who have kidney anomalies such as being born with only one. Some people are born with three, but usually only one of the three really works. Crazy stuff.

  • I love 30 Rock. I wasn’t overly in love with last night’s episode because I think they sacrificed substance to incorporate all the singers (no side characters). And now Thursday nights suck again until October (Earl, Parks, Office and 30 Rock).

  • 30 Rock is most definitely the funniest show on television. I’m always at a war with all my guy friends, who for some reason hate Tina Fey (perhaps they’re intimidated by a woman who’s actually funny?) but I think it’s completely genius. It’s one of those shows that I can’t pick my fave character from cause they’re all so funny!

  • I must admit….I used to hold a grudge against 30 rock for taking all the awards that my beloved Office used to get. I saw last weeks episode, however, and will *admit* that 30 Rock is now pretty funny. And that is the most you will get out of me.

  • Tina Fey is on of the top ten woman I would try to get with if it weren’t for me being poor and ugly. I think we’d make an amazing couple… Oh, and yeah 30 Rock is one of my top ten favorite shows. period. actually like top 5…
