Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis‘ 16-year-old daughter Lily Rose Depp has come out as… not heterosexual. While she hasn’t publicly spoken about what part of the LGBT community she considers herself to be part of, the teenager posed for the Self Evident photography project this week, which represents those who identify as “anything other than 100% straight”. It describes itself as “a photographic record of 10k people in the US who are ANYWHERE on the LGBTQI spectrum.”
Good for Lily Rose for feeling comfortable enough to be who she truly is, especially at such a young age. Of course, we all know at this point that sexuality isn’t black and white, and the spectrum IS vast. It doesn’t matter where you fall, but the more this is talked about and normalized, the less of a big deal it’ll be in society and the better it’ll be for those who feel “othered”, particularly younger kids, who face incredibly painful and occasionally violent discrimination on a daily basis.
Love this, and love the idea of the project (which admittedly I only heard of when I saw this news item).
