I feel like this story feels vaguely familiar. The rumour that Christina Applegate once ditched Brad Pitt on a date has been floating around for ages, but I don’t think Christina herself had ever confirmed or deny the story… until now, that is. While appearing on Watch What Happens Live! this past week, Christina admitted that she did indeed miss her chance to be Mrs. Pitt when she was just 18 back in 1989.

“There was much talk of a date you went on with Brad Pitt to the MTV Movie Awards in 1989 in which you reported that you ditched mid-date, it says you ditched him for another guy,” Cohen pointed out.
“My question is who was the other guy you ditched Brad Pitt for?”
The “Married With Children” star, who had pleaded the fifth on the previous question, tried to dodge answering it.
“How many fifths do I get? I have to say it?” she asked.
“I don’t have to do nothing,” she joked as she refused to give an answer.
But that didn’t stop Cohen from asking a few “sub questions” to try get some details.
Applegate eventually revealed the man she ditched Brad for was not an actor and was not known to the public.
And did she end up seeing or dating Brad Pitt again?
Her answer was a firm, “No.”
I mean, it was 26 years ago, so we’re talking ancient history here and I can see why she didn’t want to talk about it, but I don’t get why it was all about “pleading the fifth” since, again, it was ancient history. Maybe she feels dumb for having ditched Brad Pitt? Eh, who knows. Either way, all’s well that ends well since Christina is happily married now and so is Brad. Ah, Hollywood.
I do think it’s funny that she won’t say WHY she ditched him. That makes me feel like he did something really gross or something, but who knows?
She was probably a bigger star than him back then and who knows about his hygiene then too.
