Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Ch-ch-changes [MGMT]

Traffic on my personal blog has spiked since Wendie announced the very sad news that she’s leaving Evil Beet to pursue her own projects. Everyone wants the drama. Sorry to disappoint, but the drama stays with the celebrities, kids. Wendie has been an integral and beloved part of Evil Beet, and I am personally very sad to see her leave. She is heading out with my unending support and friendship, and I’m excited to see the projects she pursues in the future. I’ve got a full statement on it here if you must have gory deets.

Effective immediately, Molly McAleer is taking over as the Weekday Editor, which is going to rock SO FUCKING HARD, you guys. She will continue to share weekend shifts with the equally hilarious Kelly. So, no, we don’t have a job available, but thank you all for your applications. I love you very much. I just don’t have a job for you.

xoxo

  • I’m still really sad to see Wendie go. I’ll definitely still be reading Mommytopia, although I’m not a mommy.

  • Oh god, Molly is just terrible. I like reading HER blog but her writing on YOUR blog is usually filled with her opinions rather than facts.

    • Ditto that! On top of which I like Wendie, and will miss her.

Molly writes like a little girl. I can see her smacking gum, standing with her hand on her hip and going, like, on and like on, and like on…. :)

  • I am not looking forward to more of Molly. She’s funny on HER blog but as a gossip writer she sucks; her writing is too much of her opinion or made up random thoughts rather than facts.

      • It might not be about the facts Beet, but her writing is just not that great. She goes from trying really hard to be funny, to just rude and mean and uninteresting. I really wish you would listen to us on this one, but it is your blog.

      • I agree! Molly’s writing is appalling. She’s supposed to be a writer.

I like her opinions and her personality, but Kelly has equally awesome opinions and personality, AND she writes stunningly.

        Sad to see Wendy go.

I think we could replace Molly :)

      • 10000% agreed. everyonce and a while shes tolerable and funny.. but its far and few between the awful rudeness and unfunny ‘jokes’. wendie was the only one besides you with any talent worth paying.

  • awww…..wendie has reallly grown on me in the last few months! plus, isn’t she a MASShole? just like meeeee!

      • Will you please maybe give us heads up about these projects if there is public access to them (I’m assuming you’re working on journalism projects?)? I became a big fan of your writing, content, and journalistic integrity/work ethic when you called Maria-Mercedes out on Zelda Lily for blatantly taking a post you had written out of context.

      • Follow her on mommytopia! She’s writing a book, I believe. She posted an excerpt on there a few weeks back. Pretty compelling stuff, I think.

      • The post was a while back, a week or two after the Tila Tequila incident (and that was what the conflict was about; posts on EB and ZL about TT and the alleged assault case she was involved in).

  • The only thing I’m actually worried about is that this blog is slowly turning into a money machine, and it does not seem as personal anymore. I mean, everybody does write like it still is personal but it feels a bit faked up just for the sake of it. I really don’t wanna sound like I hate because you guys are the people that made me enjoy gossip. I started visiting your blog a long time ago when it was just a small private blog with no ads and no popularity. Now it feels like we are not one-on-one with you but the next anonymous massive site for trash talking and nasty gossiping. I hope I’m wrong bcz I really really really like all of your girls as people, and I’d love to keep coming here and feel so comfy.
Anyways, after all of this I still want to say – Thank you, girls, for coming here day after day and entertaining us.
    ~LIA~

    • Well said, Lia! It’s like visiting my grandmothers’ house now. When she passed I was devistated, but my Aunts and Great Aunts carry on the love and tradition that made me feel safe in the company of strong black women. The food sucks, but I know everybody is trying so hard that I don’t want to say how did you make that damn turkey dry up like that.? Shit. Evil Beet is the Top Chef. The rest is IHOP. I’ll go there at 3:00 for some pancakes, but that’s about it. Not just anybody can carry on the Evil Beet Tradition. I might stop by for the High Holidays, but then again, I might not.

  • Beet- I love your site. I’ve been reading since long before Wendie joined your team (LOVE you Wendie!) and will continue to read it now. I’m just offering a bit of constructive criticism – Maybe, maybe molls needs to reread her posts just a touch before she posts them. They often read like she skipped a word here or there; the flow just isn’t right. She is funny as hell, but I will miss Wendie’s poignancy. Much love to the Beet team!

    • I totally agree. Molls is awesome but I have definitely noticed her tendency to skip a word here and there or use a word that she didn’t mean to (i.e. ‘the’ instead of ‘and’).

      We’ll miss you, Wendie!

  • Molls and Kelly are both good writers – although Wendie has a knack for really making me laugh with her headlines and I will miss that.

Cheers to Wendie and cheers to all of the cool chicks who write for this blog – and post on this blog. i.e. ME.

    ~Scout

  • Oh, god.
Wendie was the only reason i stayed on this site after a while – the other writers are terrible!!

    bye, EB.

    • Yay! One less mean “Anonymous” on the site talking about the typos or how late EB is on reporting news or bitching about the bloggers themselves while hiding behind an anonymous moniker and posting multiple times on how much the site sucks. Wendie, I’m sorry to see you go but I have faith that Evil Beet will continue to be the best celebrity gossip site on the Web thanks to the hard work of everyone who works there. Miss Beet, you are a remarkable example of entrepreneurial spirit, integrity and drive and a fantastic role model. EB Media seems like an awesome place to work with smart, funny people who balance compassion and snark in their postings. Keep it up! All of your bloggers put a lot out there in terms of your own wit, opinions and vulnerabilities, not to mention long hours. Thanks to all of you for lightening my mundane days.

      • Wait, I meant to say that my moniker is one lazy assed fucking moniker and I know that it sucks but I still want all of your love and affection, guys!

      • And, I invite all of you folks that post as Anonymous to now use BeetLover as your new moniker. The more, the better!!!!

  • Each and every one of you -if you have not already done so – needs to go read Beets link to the “not drama” link.

There you will find Beets “rant.” Because. Because, maybe you will understand that this celebrity blog would not be here if it weren’t for Beet’s unerring sense of business!

Watch this woman carefully. She will be one of the most successful blog-site mistresses on the internet. And you will wish you had one tiny spit of her ability to make a blog not only work, but stay on-line, give women jobs and make a bunch of people money.

    As in all things…..educate yourselves.

Thank you, Beet and Molls and Kelly and Wendie….how you all take the shit dished up here sometimes is amazing.

    • Gabriella! Did you used to market New Coke? If you exclude the site “hits” that are insulting, you don’t have too much left. But I’ll let you rearrange the deck chairs on this Titanic if you so choose.

  • This is about the worst decision in history, alongside taking the Chocolate Lasagna off the Olive Garden menu. If Molly is going to be elevated to the status of weekday editor, she needs to hit the dictionary, thesaurus, spell-check, and English 101 like its Dead Week before finals.

Your website will go downhill if she’s given this position. You can already see the disapproval in the previous comments, not to mention previous posts. If you paid attention Beet, you would realize no one really likes Molly. The cutesy-pie routine got old as soon as I watched one of those ‘videos’ she’s so fond of posting.

This is a big mistake, unless there truly was no one around who can operate MS Word -properly-.

  • yeah no offense to molly but I just don’t feel
her. and I won’t be coming to the site as much if it’s her pots, every.day. so come on Beet listen to the opinions who matter, your readers!!

  • Really more molls posts? molls is a total adorable girl but i just cant relate to her writing at all, its just too juvenile and too many failed attempts at being funny for me. If i must lose my beloved wendie i demand more of sasha! i love your posts beet!

    • Thank you. Juvenile is a word that was slipping my mind when I tried to describe Molly. Totally, and completely juvenile.

  • Wow…if you’re increasing the molls presence, you either don’t read your reader’s comments, or don’t care what they think. A lot of the feedback on her stuff is terrible, and for good reason.

    • you cant really ignore all these comments can you beet? i know its a blog but still ‘customers always right’ should still apply, no?

  • Wendie will be missed very much by the majority of the readers here. All you Wendie haters, I read all the comments on her goodbye posts, so far theres like 120 of them….of them I counted 5 or 6 that were Wendie hating posts. So I think it’s pretty safe to say that the readers really liked Wendie. I kind of have a love/hate feeling with Molls, sometimes she can really make me laugh and I do enjoy her video posts as well. However, more often than not, I find it kind of hard to read her posts with all the simple grammar errors & typos. As for Kelly, can’t stand her writing, I stay away from here on weekends. All I can say is best wishes to Wendie, it looks like you have your following! And good luck to the rest of the EB team, I think Sasha & Molls are great writers too. I have to agree with the other commenters though, maybe it would be a good move if Sasha hired a contributing writer for the weekdays? Just to mix it up a little…

  • i love wendie AND molls! personally i don’t think their styles are THAT different. molls needs to proofread her posts better for sure, but other than that, i think she’s a great fit for EvilBeet!! i’ll miss wendie but i’m excited for molls!

  • To all those posters who seem to think running a blog is a democracy: um, it isn’t. There are plenty of us who enjoy Molls’ posts (and enjoyed Wendie’s, and Kelly’s, and of course Beet’s). Isn’t it just MAYBE possible that the only people who care enough to post something are people who have something negative to say? Isn’t it MAYBE possible that Beet has done a cost-benefit analysis and has determined the site will continue to be profitable even without whiny anti-Molls readers?

As for me, I will continue to direct my negative energies toward moron celebrities, not the writers who lampoon them.

    • its is a democracy, we are the readers. If WE dont like the writing style, we wont come. Which means no traffic, which means no beet. and its seemingly like quite the majority as of now is not happy with molls as a weekday writer, so we shall see how long this decision stays.

      • No, the majority of people who POST about Molls won’t come (although I for one wish they would make good on their threats already and either leave or shut up). There is no evidence (yet) that the majority of READERS are unhappy.

      • Yeah, exactly. The haters complain; the rest of the people don’t say anything, but they come to the site. You guys have been complaining about every fucking managerial decision ever on here for all of time, but a funny thing keeps happening: Our traffic numbers go up and up and up. Strange, that.
