Lindsay Lohan’s Ungaro Collaboration Makes its Debut to Scathing Reviews

Estrella Archs / Lindsay Lohan Ungaro Fashion Show - Paris Fashion Week

Ungaro held its fashion week fashion show Sunday in Paris, marking the debut of the collaborative design efforts of Estrella Archs and Lindsay Lohan. If you remember, they hired Lindsay Lohan to act as a “creative consultant” for the collection in a desperate, last ditch effort to revive the flagging fashion house.

The reviews are in, and, surprise! They’re not kind.

“The collection displayed none of the promised younger side Lohan was supposed to deliver. Being a young, pretty, controversial woman who looks good in clothes and photo ops just isn’t enough.” – Women’s Wear Daily

“…a celebrity-led aesthetic that was obvious to the point of banality.” – The Independent

“Hearts but no soul…The Emanuel Ungaro show on Sunday may go down in history as the final gasp of celebrity madness.” – The New York Times

Half the people invited to the after party didn’t even show up, leading one reporter to comment that “bigger crowds have turned out for free champagne at store openings.” During the party, Archs and Lohan sat at separate tables with their backs to one another while Archs read reviews of the show.

For her part, designer Estrella Archs said that the collection “had to be designed very quickly.” The Spanish designer had just three weeks to put together the collection with Lindsay looking over her shoulder the whole time. One wonders if Lindsay’s influence led to the Spartacus footwear free-for-all or the infestation of the sequined heart motif.

You be the judge.

  • This is like what every 11 yo girl in the world would have come up with if you gave her a pencil and writing pad and told to draw some new outfits.

  • Not that I’m some kind of fashion expert but when you have a theme in something, I thought it’s supposed to tie things together, not beat your audience over the head. Could they have used more hearts?
And are people really wearing those horrible ’80s colors again?
I’m glad I don’t usually pay attention to this stuff. Gives me a headache.

  • I think she used to be so beautiful. Her face is just a mess now. The bags under her eyes, forehead creases and those awful lips. She just looks haggard. Poor thing.

    • it’s something called “way too many cut drugs.” Seriously, she is chronologically 23!!! Hard to believe. As for Ungaro, they’d have better luck, not to mention reviews, hiring a random person off the street aka ME to “creatively consult.”

  • I never understood the Lindsay as fashion guru thing. Who told her she had style? I always thought she looked like a 3 day dried out drunk from the alley. Those clothes are awful. Bye bye Ungaro….

  • Why does she look so old here? Oh my god, Im 27 years old and I dont have prominent lines like that. Coke will destroy you, for reals.

  • It pisses me off that people actually go to school to learn how to design clothes. They move to New York and live in postage stamp sized apartments, and work their asses off to learn their craft. When they graduate, if they’re lucky, they’ll get an unpaid internship with a designer running errands.

Lindsay Lohan, is no fashion guru. She more than likely pays a stylist to dress her. And she gets paid a boatload of money to act as a “creative consultant” for a collection? The “collection” is awful, but what did we expect?

BTW, she look awful, and her lips are ridiculous.

    • very true, and design programs of all different sorts are very expensive. I’d like to quiz Lilo on some art/design history

  • I could look at an entire gallery of models band-aid-covered feet shoved into shoes with their unpainted toes hanging off the edge!

  • To the 27-year old zooey:
While being destructive in many ways, cocain does not alter face appearance or create wrinkles. The drug itself, considered toxic by cells, will leave the body after about 48 hours. I would assume that an unhealthy lifestyle in general is more responsible. Just to clear it up for you, no hard feelings.

    • maybe not cocaine itself, but there are many things it may be cut with that can literally get under someone’s skin, stay there & cause lines, pimples, and sores.

      • I have to say, meth face is what comes to mind here, you age twice as fast when you are burning the candle at both ends…..

  • Thats is interesting. I was reading the reviews on several French newspapers and the reviews are not all that bad… They clearly ditched Lohan’s creative consultancy and focused more on the efforts of Estrella Archs. I guess the fact that the Ungaro’s review (5 lines in average) is ALWAYS paired with the (excellent) review of Karl Lagerfeld’s collection (10 lines in average) proves it all.

Publicity stunt for Ungaro? Definitely. Fashion faux-pas? affirmative.

  • She’s so frighteningly skinny but still manages to have a double-chin. Must be alcohol / drug bloat.

  • Not horrible just boring. Some pieces are definately wearable. I think the critics were a wee bit harsh.

  • ungaro is not the nicest of people. i remember when he would have a fit if anyone other than the wealthiest NYC ladies who lunched would go to his stupid sample sales.
what goes around comes around, that’s for certain.

  • ok…i see at least a dozen pieces that r cute and could definitely see young hollywood chics like Rihanna, Katy Perry and the like rocking some of these!

I’m indifferent when it comes 2 Lindsay, but 2 read some of the reviews – u’d think the collection was 100% HORRID!

  • I went to fashion design school. I dropped out because it got too expensive. I have taken numerous sewing classes and art classes. It behooves me when these celebrities and ex-wives of athletes(hint:Sheree) think they are designers. Just because you dress cute doesn’t mean you should design clothes. Critics have every right to be harsh on these individuals. To us it’s equivalent to someone who is a great caretaker skipping med school and trying to practice medicine! It’s got to STOP!!!!!

  • I love your site and I assumed We would share the organization I exploit for getting a great deal of traffic. My business is very happy with the guests i receive using their company service and I recommend them to any webmaster.
