Bill Cosby victims want $100 million in damages

After the news that one of Bill Cosby‘s alleged underage victims from the 1970s was suing the comedian, it’s now come to light that many of his other victims have come together to demand a $100 million fund be set up to settle their claims, or else they’re dragging his old ass to court with civil rights lawyer Gloria Aldred at their side.

From US Weekly:

The proposal to face the claims in court was made by Aldred at a press conference in Los Angeles where she was accompanied by three of Cosby’s alleged victims, two of whom had not spoken publicly before.

“It could be advantageous for Mr. Cosby to give up the statute of limitations because there is a huge cloud on his reputation,” Allred told reporters. “If Mr. Cosby believes all the women are being untruthful, then this is his opportunity to prove it.”

As an alternative to facing the women in court, she also suggested to Cosby that another course of action would be to set up a $100 million fund, and let a panel of retired judges “determine the merits of each claim” and award compensation.

One of the accusers, Beth Ferrier, identified as Jane Doe No. 5 in the 2005 lawsuit that Cosby settled with former accuser Andrea Constand, added her plea to Aldred’s.

“If Mr. Cosby would accept Gloria Allred’s proposal, I would be able to have my day in court. I want Mr. Cosby to face justice for what he has done to me and so many other women,” accuser Beth Ferrier, who claims the comedian drugged her coffee and sexually assaulted her thirty years ago.

I mean, $100 million is a small price to pay really for what he’s done – but let’s be clear, no price, no amount of money, will ever be enough. In terms of compensation, I would love if a lot of this money was put into programs that support victims of sexual assault and domestic violence as I think it could make a difference, but if these women want to put it in their own pockets, who are we to say anything after what they’ve been through at Cosby’s hands?

  • Gloria Allred wants this for them because she knows the only thing that will come out of it is TV time for her.

  • “For every victim who has come forward because they want public attention, there are tens of thousands of victims who kept it a secret because they didn’t want even their family and friends, much less the public, to know. Putting your story on full display is not a fun thing. It opens them up to all kinds of criticism online. It’s hard to see that the attention is a big motive for many victims. If anything, it works against them. ” http://thinkprogress.org/culture/2014/11/18/3593689/bill-cosby-is-an-alleged-serial-rapist-so-now-what/

Those women should take ALL of his money. Even if he did have his day in trial he will get like what 5 years, maybe? There are always warnings about the release of violent offenders. Why should he get to live a comfortable life? After what he has done?
