Zooey Deschanel Is Designing Clothes with Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger probably isn’t the first designer to come to mind when you think of Zooey Deschanel‘s fashion aesthetic, but indeed they’re working together to create a new capsule collection for the brand, and the stuff is actually pretty cute, right? It’s all a little too patriotic for my liking, but it’s definitely workable and Zooey stayed true to herself for sure.

Here’s what Hilfiger told WWD:

“They are Sixties-inspired short dresses,” Hilfiger noted. “There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy — really from the Sixties in London. That’s not something we would normally put in our regular sportswear line — maybe we’d be inspired by the Sixties for the runway, but it’s a new way to look at fun, American classics.”

Those include several shirtdresses, for example, as well as peekaboo numbers featuring prints inside pleats. Piqué and oxford cloth, as well as silks and linens, are among the fabrics. The overall aesthetic merges Mod with nautical, or “Modical” as Deschanel, who named each dress after a friend, described it.

And Zooey’s thoughts on the collaboration:

“I am a fashion fanatic, and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe,” she said. “Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations — old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons — and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece.”

Nice. This collection will sell like hotcakes, I’m sure – I don’t think I’ve met a girl in her 20s who wasn’t absolutely obsessed with Zooey and her style, so I think we can all agree it’ll be a success. A couple more pics below…

  • Well, in the fifteen seconds you’ll have after the Islamists come at you with their clit knives and/or the Chinese/No-Kos lob a few nukies at us, you can contemplate your over-obsession with not being too patriotic, (yet another offshoot of your corrosive political correctness that is frankly nauseating).

Grow up a little, hmmmmm kay?

    • Frankly nauseating….as if the constant Neocon bullshit you spew daily isn’t? This is a classic example of what’s truly wrong with this country…. Right and left trading barbs without accomplishing a damn thing, just trying to find the sound bite that will give them the most media exposure. While I sometimes find Jennifers vitriol tiring, I find yours to be exhausting. Some months ago, I don’t remember the subject, you thanked me for my service…. Newsflash asshole, most people who have served could care less about your thanks. Neocon chicken hawks like you make me sick, I didn’t serve for you…I served and left for my own reasons. I suggest you grow up yourself….

      • News flash asshole you can tell you weren’t a real military man because it means a lot to the men and women who have served for them to have someone say thank you because not nearly as many people say it as the should . Those couple little words means a lot to military people so I don’t know what the hell your saying . Sound like your a little angry , what did they throw you out ? That’s even if you ever served to begin with because the way you treat people and run your mouth you can tell you had no disapline in your life . Your just a loud mouth loser who hides behind a computer . Don’t ever say most people who served could careless if you say thank you because that could not be further from the truth . Speak for your self not for other military people who take pride in what they do and those words mean a lot to them !

      • You’re right….. I should have qualified my statement. I should have said the people who served “in country.” Like in forward areas, or behind lines… Not the “REMFS” who seem to relish all the attention and adulation shitheads like you and Muttley supply. In short, piss off little man…

      • I guess u forgot to take your crazy pills today because you sound absolutely out of your fucking mind .maybe you should go live in another country because once real military man read your ridiculous commenter they will want to kick your ass that’s if you ever crawl out of your parents basement and stop trolling for a minute . By the way make sure you take your meds . It’s probably a good idea to double on meds because you’ve lost touch with reality . Either that or crazy hospital should allow Internet .

      • You two are stupid on a galactic scale…. I’m willing to bet, if you ask 10 combat hardened vets, 7out of 10 would agree with me. But hey, the world needs idgits too. Btw, that’s vets who have endured days/months under combat conditions…. Not taking occasional fire while riding in a convoy or routine patrol…

      • You have no idea what the hell your talking about and you are a disgrace to this country . 7 out if 10 would agree with you is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard . My husbands has been in the military for 23 years have served 5 tours of duty each lasting a year . He was chief of security for the colonel . He is second highest in the world for military police and he travels the world teaching school . My son is a ranger for the past 5 years and is on his third tour so don’t tell me anything about the military because you have no clue what so ever . You are just a loser who is a no body who runs their mouth with no knowledge . Don’t ever speak for another military officer . You are the biggest piece of shit on the plant and 10 out of 10 military officers would agree .

      • Kudos to your husband and son, but you’re still dumb as a post. If you actually read what I originally wrote, you might understand. I was saying that I didn’t want the thanks of a neocon chicken hawk…. My point being, that if it is so important to them to thank me, why didn’t they serve? And ask your husband/son what they think. It might surprise you, it might not. Many I served with feel the same way….

      • Serving is a choice and not all people should serve . That doesn’t mean that they can’t be greatful for those who have served . I did ask my husband and he said it takes a special person to serve and it can’t just be someone who doesn’t know what to do and that he would only want someone backing him up who truly was devoted to the service not to just some one who wanted to do it for a check because their are a lot of people who think they will never be deployed and just want a check . My life has been with my husband and the army and you could not be more wrong . I’ll be sure to show everyone this and I’m sure if you were in arms reach you would get your ass kick by a real military officer . You sound like one of those people who served and had no idea what you were in for and ran the minute you could get out because a true soldier would never talk the way you do and this is not the first time you have said idiotic comments about our military . You live in this country because our soldiers make it safe for you and don’t ever forget it . You are crazy to think everyone can or should commit their lives to keeping us safe . It should only be the dedicated , committed and brave .

      • Your proof that not everyone should serve especially idiots like you I wouldn’t want you to be someone my family member could count on during war but you should still be thankful and everyone I’ve ever spoke to says how much it means when someone say thank you so it’s clear you don’t know what your talking about . I’m glad to know your no long in the service and for that I will thank you for no longer serving . The military doesn’t need someone like you .

      • Your husband is almost right…. It takes a certain type, not special person to serve. Its also true that many are there to collect a check…. are you aware of the hundreds/thousands of service people who cant serve overseas because their credit is so hosed that they are a security risk? Maybe your husband will understand what Im saying when he retires and idiots like mutley want to know what being in the service was like and thank him for something he was too afraid to do himself…. & for what its worth, my pay grade was that of a CW5 with 22yrs. Get off your high horse…. no one said anything against the military.

      • First the most ridiculous thing you have said so far is that my husband is afraid . Unlike a loser like you he doesn’t have time to troll the net and put people down to make him self feel good . He protects this country everyday and he proud of what he does and would never be afraid of anything or anybody especially of what someone like you thinks . When I do show him and the other officer I’m sure they will laugh as hard as I’m laughing at what a loser you are . Why don’t you do something productive with your life that your kids could be proud of . I doubt you were even in the service because no one would talk about another brother that way or maybe that just proves your a scumbag . I’m sure we will all get a laugh out of your stupidity .

      • Anon….. I sure hope you’re pretty, cuz you won’t make it on brain power or your reading comprehension. I said mutley and people like him were afraid to serve. Please, read the post again…..

      • Maybe you should get off the crack and read your post again . My family and friends know more about the military then you ever will even if you served 100 years . Me and my family will stay on our high horse because unlike you we do know what we’re talking about and proud of it . By the way I’m smart and smoking hot. I’ve got the whole package .

  • The military ROCkS and I’m thankful everyday for what they do for us and the person above me is right you have no idea what your saying and you just sound crazy . No surprise there you just like to run your mouth . It’s amuses us to see how crazy you are and that you know shit .
