    Actually Kate’s preferences weren’t “swept to the side.” That was the main cake and, as is traditional, William had a groom’s cake that was chocolate biscuit:

    The cake pictured above is fruit cake, not chocolate biscuit. Even the link you embedded shows that.

    I think they had two cakes: a fruit cake and the groom’s cake. Having a groom’s cake is some kind of tradition. Anywhos chocolate cakes are always better than fruit cakes methinks…
