Michelle Williams Talks About Her Life After Heath Ledger

Michelle Williams is a pretty classy lady who rarely speaks publicly about the death of her longtime love and the father of her daughter, Heath Ledger. However, in the new issue of Marie Claire, Michelle speaks openly about her mourning process and what life has been life for her and her daughter since the news of Heath’s death hit them just a few years ago.

Michelle told the magazine:

“Obviously, for me and for [Matilda], there’s a hole in our life.

Of course the natural inclination is to want to fill it and make it disappear but what I’ve come to recently is that it’s impossible. Nothing will fit in that hole because what we want back we can’t get, which is this one person. I’m not going to rush anything and scamper around like a mad person and make myself crazy. I’m trying to be respectful of the absence. I’m not trying to fill it up. It is what it is.

I didn’t work for a year. I needed to gather myself and put my life back together. I had to be dragged back to work, basically, because I finally had my life in some kind of order, and I didn’t know what would happen if I introduced work into it.

My poor mom really wants me to meet someone. I think she wanted to believe the Ryan Gosling rumor more than anybody….

The idea that you can get everything you want in one person is destructive. And maybe when you accept that the number is closer to 50 or 60 or 70 percent, that’s when you can start to make some progress in choosing the right person.

I don’t want to make a mistake that big, and that saddens me, because it’s harder to let yourself go. I can inflict any kind of injury on myself, but with my daughter, that’s not an option.”

Anyone who has ever experienced a major loss knows exactly what it is that she’s talking about. And now, actually, I feel like Blue Valentine is an even more powerful story knowing that the lead actress was going through all of this trauma in her personal life during the filming of it.

Michelle Williams is the best lady.

  • Ah, the life of a film actor — must be nice to be able to afford to take a year off to re-gather oneself. Most people who lose someone they care about can seldom afford such a luxurious option.

  • She is indeed a classy lady. And her words are beautiful and I think anyone could relate to that who has lost someone. She uses such nice words. I really adore her. I hope she’s doing well and I hope she and her daughter will have a great future. They deserve it. :(

  • That woman needs to shut her mouth. What would be more respectful is realising that Ledger was just another guy like anyone else. No one cares.

If my wife died people wouldn’t applaud me for taking a year out of my life.

Admittedly I don’t have a wife, so it might be more to do with me lying than the fact that my wife isn’t a celebrity.
