In a statement posted late last night to Tiger Woods’ personal website, the golfer admitted his infidelity and announced that he is taking an break from golf, indefinitely.
I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.
I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding.
What’s most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.
After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

It takes a big man to admit he made a mistake…. or in his case a lot of mistakes. He is doing the right thing in taking the time to get his act together. We don’t have to forgive him, his family does. It will be a long, hard road ahead for his family to build trust again, but I hope they can. We all make mistakes and it will work out as God sees fit for them. We need to pray they can make it. His wife has a lot to forgive and forget.

Um, he didn’t really voluntarily admit anything and he doesn’t really have a choice but to fix it if he wants to continue to be a public fixture and lead the good life. He’s not admitting anything the whole world doesn’t already now know. He’s a scumbag.
Ah, celebrity life. When average men get caught cheating, they certainly don’t get to quit their jobs to “work on their issues,” much less receive accolades for quitting. What exactly does golfing have to do with his cheating ways? It seems like he picked these ladies up in bars, not on the links. If you ask me, he would be better off channeling all of his embarrassment and (alleged) remorse by golfing it out. It just seems to me that MORE time golfing would equal LESS time straying.
Also, more time golfing would probably give Elin some peace of mind, too. I can only speak for myself, but if I found out my husband had cheated on me with at least 10 other women, the last place I would want said cheating husband is IN MY PRESENCE 24/7. Sure, it would be sort of comforting to know where he is at all times, but I would just feel sick at the sight of him.
But if an average man got caught cheating, it wouldn’t be splashed across magazines and newspapaers all over the country (world) and every person and their dog wouldn’t be talking about it. Yeah, celebrity life affords a lot of things that the average person doesn’t get, but it also comes with a price. The average cheating spouse doesn’t have to make an announcement to the world to seek forgiveness.
I think what Tiger did was horrible, I think cheating is unforgiveable. He’s not my husband, so I don’t get to make that choice.
This country, as a whole, idolizes our celebrities, particularly sports heroes. We seem to think if someone is a great golfer, or basketball player, or football player, that makes him or her a great human being, and more often than not, that isn’t the case. People feel this sense of loss when they hear that Tiger Woods cheated on his wife, but how many people in your community do the same thing every day? Do you get as upset when you hear your banker, your mailman, your real estate agent cheats on his wife? I doubt it.
Sure I do. I feel terrible for their wives and children. And I don’t think Tiger is worse just because he was an athlete. God knows athletes aren’t role models any more than pop stars are. I’m not any more disappointed in him than in any other jerk who cheats on his wife with 10 different women. They’re all equal scum.
My point, though, was that it makes no sense to quit golf. It’s not like he can magically negate his fame, so he might as well do something productive with it (like win the PGA) rather than wallow in the sad, creepy world of the tabloids.
He’s an asshole just like Anonymous above. But he’s certainly not the only guy in the world who cheats. There are a lot of those pricks running around. The thing is the media and the public want to crucify fanous people. He fucked up, he apologized so let him work it out with his wife. Move on, people.

First of all, i really really dont like golf. I find it boring..but i did from time to time, watch Tiger Woods and say to myself : wow!!! did you see that shot? i dont like the idea that i was amazed by a con artist, because thats what he is, a fraud.
People dont seem to realise that last year, Tiger Woods made (only) 7 millions by playing golf..and 103 millions by promoting different kind of things : Nike, Gatorade, Gillette etc.. He presented himself as a familly guy, honest and caring father..with a magical talent to put a stupid ball in a hole. If my brother in law would cheat on my sister with only one person, i would want to hang him by the balls! Imagine with more then 5..its so disgusting! Now again, if he was a single man and he was having sex with 20 girls and using a condom each time, i really would not judge him. I really would not care.

In my opinion, people are hurt because they trusted a total stranger and made him a hero for their kids.
