Wayne Brady is best know as the always smiling, always upbeat host of many shows, most recently of ‘Lets Make a Deal’. But the death of Robin Williams in 2014 caused him to look inward. And everything changed.
“There’s a lot of therapy that I’m doing right now. I wish I didn’t care what people think of me, but the fact of the matter is, I do care,” he admitted.
“Once I opened that door to myself though, I had to start learning about myself, and I had to start owning up to things that maybe I’d either repressed, suppressed, or just didn’t wanna deal with.”
He said his loneliness was bringing him to thoughts of “If I’m not here that pain goes away” and he new he needed to get to the bottom of it. He says that thing was a “Love addiction”.
Brady told People Magazine he discovered something about himself. “So, I came to pansexual because — and I know that I’m completely messing up the dictionary meaning — but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board. And, I think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place. I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there. “
Brady is currently filming a reality show for Hulu next year. The will star himself as well as his daughter, Maile, 20, and ex wife Mandie Taketa. Mandie was who Wayne first came out to. The show will follow his ongoing mental health journey as well as standard day-to-day reality tv shenanigans.
