Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, last month, but until now we didn’t know many details, besides the fact that Ryan was apparently a doting father and Eva was just… there. Well, now we seemingly know the name of the baby, since TMZ paid someone to get a hold of the birth certificate.
Gosling and Mendes named their daughter Esmeralda Amada … according to the baby’s birth certificate, obtained by TMZ.
Amada was the name of Eva’s character in “We Own the Night” — and Esmeralda, well … maybe she’s a big fan of the ’96 Disney flick “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
Esmeralda! I mean, it’s a bit Disney, like they say, but it’s unique and I quite like it. What would the nickname for Esmeralda be, though? It’s a bit of a mouthful to say all the time. Esme? No, that’s too close to Twilight territory. I dunno, but I do like it.
However, I also think it’s tacky as shit that TMZ went to the lengths of getting a hold of the birth certificate for the sake of being the first to tell the world their kid’s name. Are birth certificates part of public record? I dunno, but I could have lived without that information.
Esmeralda is a regular Spanish name, not as common as Maria but you here it often.
Esmeralda is a very typical Spanish name as common as Jane or Jennifer. Big whoop
You Americans… Esmeralda is a common, traditional name in Spanish-speaking countries. It’s not Disney at all. It’s like Gemma or Amber.
