Oh man, this is just awful. It was revealed on Monday afternoon that 25-year-old Peaches Geldof, daughter of the late Paula Yates and Live Aid organizer and musician Bob Geldof, had died suddenly. So far, there’s no word on what caused her unexpected passing but the investigation is ongoing.
From CNN:
“At this stage, the death is being treated as an unexplained and sudden death,” Kent police said. “Officers are working to establish the circumstances around the death.”
Bob Geldof released a statement saying his family is “beyond pain.”
“She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us,” the statement reads. “Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh.
“What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever.”
How terrible. Peaches leaves behind two small children of her own, sons Astala and Phaedra who are both under the age of 3, and a husband. Considering Peaches herself admitted that she never came to terms with her own mother’s death from a drug overdose 14 years ago, this has an even sadder dimension to it. Here’s hoping her family is able to find some amount of peace, though I can’t imagine that’ll be forthcoming.
so this addict gets sympathy from you?…and its obvious she died of an overdose.
So, her remaining family and her two small children don’t deserve sympathy because she probably OD’d? Cause that’s what this article reads to me. And even if she DID OD, yeah, sympathy for poor Peaches, because addiction is a horrible, uncontrollable thing for a lot of people, and just because you haven’t had to deal with it doesn’t mean it’s easy or a cop out. Fuck off and have some respect for the dead.
no …lets have some respect for the living……in this day and age…with all the information we have…and the responsibility she had with her kids…why in the hell would someone want to do heroin? if her mother od’ing left such a huge scar on her why would she inflict such pain on her kids…..and continue the cycle……but i have to have respect for the dead….she didnt have respect for herself….. she was a dope fiend….
I understand both sides of this argument. And heeerrrre we go, it’s the Philip Seymour Hoffman thing all over again! Only he had talent. : / Yes I went there… Well I will say reading Bob’s words made me feel for the privileged family. To bury your child, that has GOT to be the worst.
I’m with Mercy on this one, there is a neurological brain based reason for addictions (just like other menta and physicall illnesses) and that arises out of how chronic stress changes the bodies stress and immune systems early in life. Look at her early childhood and her mother’s struggles, this is intergenerational transmission of an abnormal stress reaction. Since everyone’s genetic capacity reacts differently to environmental experiences, the idea that everyone can just pull themselves up by their bootstraps if they just try hard enough is bs. You wouldn’t be saying this if it was cancer. People need to start thinking about addictions in a different way–it’s not merely a willpower issues.
The family she left behind gets sympathy from me. And yes, Peaches gets sympathy from me. She watched her own mother die from a drug overdose at 11 and never got over it. Drug addiction may be “stupid”, yes, but that doesn’t negate the sadness of the people they left behind. Get a grip.
stupid and selfish is how i define addiction………do you feel bad for all overdoses or just the rich white ones?
Hi JOHN
How the actual fuck would you know how she died? Did you perform the autopsy yourself. I really fucking doubt that you are clearly dumb as a post. Making petty assumptions then trashing a poor girl who HAS DIED is naive, arrogant and heartless.
Drugs are bad. Yes WELL DONE. GOLD FUCKING STAR!!!! Also lets bring in irrelevant racial assumptions because WOOPDIE FUCKING DO. Addiction is not a choice you moron. It’s tragic and sad for everyone but it’s not the individuals choice to be addicted.
You are so dumb and ignorant have fun with your shitty bigoted cunt life.
Say it, friend.
hi chloe……and many more people will die because of this lack of “choice”….in addition addiction is not a “choice” is a disturbingly wrong assumption at best….. chloe go try some meth
If it’s true then I’m with John on this one. Lotta familial conflict didn’t help matters, right wrong or otherwise.
Its so sad moment for the death of this girl in the age of 25.

we don’t know what was going on in peaches’ mind and life or her as an individual, sure speculation, and what happened with her mom does SEEM to affect things, but only Jesus, who is God, TRULY knows her and all things. I only hope she had been saved by Jesus and is now in heaven. Everyone needs Jesus but most will reject him. For those whom he does cause to be born again in him, he can do anything heal anything break any bondage, and no matter what happens to a person IN CHRIST-born again, when they die they go to be with Jesus FOREVER………..
