Dina Lohan Thinks They’re Just Making an Example of Her Daughter

Lindsay Lohan’s mother Dina just did an interview with Entertainment Tonight about her daughter’s jail sentence and the general treatment she got during her time in court. Not one to throw curve balls, Dina said exactly what we expected her to: It’s not Lindsay’s fault, she’s terrified of jail, and the courts are going extra hard on her because she’s famous.

There’s video On Lindsay being scared to go to jail: "Lindsay’s scared to death. You know, she’s strong, but until someone faces something as devastating as that…we’re going to have to see. God willing, it won’t happen…It’s very difficult, we’re not sleeping well, we’re not functioning. We cry a lot and we hug a lot. She’s petrified, we all are. We’re angry. We’re disappointed in the system." On getting a new lawyer and appealing the judge’s decision: "She’s a fighter, and until the final result — we’re not giving up. I think it’s time we get another attorney just to see it from another light and do damage control." On Judge Marsha Revel: "This is not an OJ Simpson trial, which they made it out to be. If she [Judge Revel] wants a trial, then make it a fair trial. I feel like Shawn [Chapman Holley], Lindsay’s [former] attorney should have stood up and said, ‘Listen, I didn’t know you were going to have witnesses.’ We would have had ten witnesses. We didn’t get a shot. We didn’t get a shot at fairness." On Lindsay’s behavior in 2007: "She did a really stupid thing. Thank God she didn’t hurt anyone….I know my daughter is clean and sober today. I know that for a fact. I’m not a doctor…and I’m not an attorney. I’m a mother. And I’m sitting here, as a mother, just worried about my child., but here’s some of the best quotes:

Wow. It’s just so completely shocking to me that a mother who makes endless excuses for her child’s bad behavior is now watching her go off to jail!

Dina Lohan is her daughter’s worst enemy. I think that most parents, regardless of the immediate sadness they may feel watching their child be locked up, would be thrilled that the court is insisting their child be responsible for their actions and get clean and sober. And if the well-being of her child isn’t enough to make Dina realize that jail time is far from the worst thing that could happen to her, then maybe she could consider the fact that once Lindsay’s dead, so is Dina’s cash flow. C’mon, Dina. Let Lindsay hang in there long enough for you to get a few more chemical peels and a new fur or something.

  • I had heard some people (not famous individuals, just regular people pissed off at this debacle) called Shawn Chapman Holley’s office and basically kept leaving the message, “Lindsay got what she deserved” and, “That alcoholic needs a harsher sentence”.

Anyone know why SCH quit as LL’s legal counsel?

  • This just makes me want to puke. If they wanted to make an example of Lindsay, they would have put her ass in jail when this whole thing happened, not years afterward. Not to mention the fact that she didn’t seem to mind using her celebrity as an excuse as to why she couldn’t follow the rules of her probation.
You also don’t generally get to commit a crime, fail probation numerous times, take years to straighten yourself out (if that is what really happened, which I doubt) and then say “Oh, well, maybe I did some things wrong but I am doing well NOW so I shouldn’t be punished.”

  • Yep, because celebrities often get the book thrown at them in cases like this. Poor, poor celebrities, they have life even harder than us “regular” people, who usually get off scott-free!

  • I consider; because of her wayward and wasted life; dead or alive, Lilo’s the drug/drunken mother’s meal ticket for quite a long while. And, I think Dina HATES her kids intruding on her life… and she is desperate knowing the very very short time SHE has left to become a big star is being wasted, thwarted by the freaky, heartbreaking and serious circumstances in raising them; her horrible parenting skills are revealed, a great deal. Damn they need shelter, clothes and food, you know, education and you have to share your drugs and booze with them on the sly in a troubled time or get a doctor to prescribe control uppers or downers to keep them in line, and she worries about child protective service bothering her for bad parenting, as well. YOU’D think mom would be enormously greatful for the FREE rehab. The end of living in a mindless haze rescue, we are all paying for with our tax dollars. And the restriction of drugs and promotion of Lindsays good health study to follow; the judge has ordered, as Lindsay is a mite too old, addicted, stuck in her hazy mire and much too expensive for her selfish parents to personally save as they are all broke now. BUT hey, great publicity campaign is established for any who would hire her after the rehab? Surely a miracle found in the ashes., be the first to show the amazing results. They can all cash in by her infamous, long-suffering in horror recovery or crash and burn failure.

  • Well, no sh*t Sherlock!! I don’t really know of too many people who aren’t scared of going to jail. And it’s called accountability–every action has consequences–so Lindsay will have to face the consequences of HER actions, not anyone else’s, but HER actions. I guess Dina lives in the land Delusional Deniability. Gah!
