“My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent. My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act, because I’m still figuring that out for myself. So to take that away from me is a bit selfish. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That’s just life.”

– Miley Cyrus, worker of the pole, in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar.

    • Then you are as braindead as Miley….you both need to look up what a role model actually is! Parents teach and discipline, role models (get this) model behaviors for their fans and admirers! It amazes me how stupid you all are!!!!

      • she never said exactly WHAT kind of role model she wanted to be. Charles Manson was a role model for many… she never said she didn’t want to be a role model for future strippers!

      • u know what mr. know-it-all get a life, cause guess who came here and was stupid and “braindead” and came to this site just to mouth off…hmm, let’s think about this…umm…oh that’s right u r

    • God I hope “momster” is just some funny thing you made up and u are not really a mother with children.

    • exactly.

miley wants her cake and eat it too. she knows not what she says. it’ll catch up with her.

  • I think she’s trying to say that kids can look up to her for 1. having a popular kids show and 2. having hit songs…….but that doesn’t mean they should do everything she does.

She’s a teenager and will do teenager things. Parents need to keep an eye on the younger ones who watch her.

  • That kind of irresponsible talk from precocious teen Miley Cyrus may actually force some unprepared/ill-equipped parents to actually start parenting before they’re ready to.
Now ask yourself this irresponsible parents, would Taylor Momsen or Selena Gomez ever say something so candid, thus ruining a perfectly fine parenting-by-proxy thing?

  • umm..she’s contradicting herself. a role model is a person others can emulate or aspire to be like. i understand what she was trying to say, but her words are all wrong.

      • Wit isn’t spelled as Whit.
        So STFU “evilbeetdouche” and “Anonymous”.
You don’t even know how she came up with that name.

      • Antidisestablishmentarianism meet subtle humor. I see you’re already acquainted with dumb shit.

      • Antidisestablishmentarianism. Hmm, I think that’s the type of religion my grandmothers family followed when she was young. Don’t you guys sacrifice small animals and wear their carcasses on your head while dancing in the nude? Awesome, bitch.

  • wow, I too usually find a lot of fault with her and her family, but for once girl actually makes sense. I don’t think there’s that much contradiction–ultimately the role of raising a kid right is up to the parents. That said, being looked up to, you have a responsibility whether you like it or not, doesn’t matter if you’re an older sibling, teacher, babysitter, or famous.

  • I believe she wrote this herself as much as I believe that I’m actually Hannah Montana. My money is on the idea that she would like to tell everyone to piss off, but instead her publicist got to her.

  • I don’t even like her, but that may well be the most intelligent thing I’ve ever heard come out of her mouth. Getting better Ms.Cyrus!

  • No, sweetie, your job is to make money for Disney by being almost a good singer, almost a good actress, and to pretend to be a good girl while dressing and acting like a hooker.

    You’re doing a great job.

    • And to pretend to be good at picking out hair extensions that look five shades darker that your real hair.

  • well… i agree whit her this time, if u are a good parent u should theach your kids that famous people are just people and they are not perfect in anyway, there is no reason to workship them.

  • “she never said exactly WHAT kind of role model she wanted to be. Charles Manson was a role model for many… she never said she didn’t want to be a role model for future strippers!”

“umm..she’s contradicting herself. a role model is a person others can emulate or aspire to be like. i understand what she was trying to say, but her words are all wrong.”

lmao i totally agree with those two comments. Pretty much what i think about Miley Cyrus. I also think that at least she should try a little harder to not make a fucking hooker out of her 9 year old sister.

  • she’s so right. so, so right. i’m really glad she finally said this and i hope she’s never pressured to apologize for or qualify it.

  • anyone who thinks she’s contradicting herself doesn’t understand what she’s saying. she is saying it is her job to be a role model and she wants to be one, but that she is NOT perfect and while she may STRIVE to be a role model.. she is going to make mistakes and parents should still teach their kids right from wrong.

  • the irony here is that she is having to make a statement like this regarding her inappropriate behavior because her parents have not been parenting.

we can all do better than the Cyrus family by simply not allowing (no matter how much money is offered) our daughters to dress in inappropriate attire and to teach them to avoid the temptation at age nine to bump and grind on youtube channel that every pedophile in the country must love and appreciate.

  • Miley Cyrus has no role models, her parents are rich idiots who just got lucky, this poor girl doesn’t know what is appropriate for a sixteen year old because the parents have no clue, it is disgusting!
