Allison Iraheta’s Debut Album Drops Tomorrow

It’s just one Idol album after another right now! Allison Iraheta — my second-fave of last season, although she placed fourth — is releasing her album, Just Like You, tomorrow. (It’s already available on iTunes.) You can catch the video for her first single, “Friday I’ll Be Over U,” above. And below find another single off the album, “Robot Love.”

I have to admit — I’m really disappointed. I feel like they took this phenomenal, versatile, nuanced singer and forced her into really cheesy teen-pop that doesn’t even begin to show off her capability. And my knee-jerk reaction is just to resent anyone who spells “You” as “U” in the title of a song. Like, you are not singing an instant message. It’s just a matter of time before Britney Spears comes out with a track called “You Make Me Angry >:( But I Will Still Bang You ;) Because You Have a Giant Penis 8========|)”

In fairness, I haven’t heard the whole album yet, but I’m already annoyed with whomever produced this crap. >:(

  • allison was my favorite. probably my 2nd fav of all time (behind the kelllly monster of course!) the single is crap, if you watch allison interviews she even said one time something along the lines of you have to hook an audience first. she’s going to get marketed a certain way in the beginning, and that’s kinda what that single is pushing for. but i think she’ll be around a while. check out some other stuff from the album – live acoustic performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szx7pPIo7D0

  • Why didn’t you put up Holiday or Still breathing for people to preview? choosing to highlight the two poppiest tracks on her album isn’t doing the album any justice.

  • Prince had a song called “I Would Die 4 U” long before instant messaging existed. Can’t blame it all on IMs.

  • Beet, you are thinking way too deep on this; she’s what, 16? They went after the target market and these 2 songs are good pop songs. I’m sorry, I’m not into the pretentious crap that Adam released, which is 2 steps away from being a OffBroadway One Man Show soundtrack. I hope the rest of the CD is a little more rock/ more edgy; but these 2 songs could be by Pink off of “Funhouse” and no one would complain. Like it.

  • The two songs you featured, FIBOU and Robot Love, are the ‘poppiest’ songs in the album The rest of the songs are more rock and edgy, and showcased Allison’s voice that we love. Just downloaded the album from itunes and love it. Had the deluxe version with the Daughtry song, and it rocks! Definitely the strongest debut among the 3 Idol releases, probably the strongest of all idol debut ever, IMHO. It’s that good!

  • Her debut album drops tomorrow? That’s funny, that’s when the tofu burger I’m eating right now drops.

  • Well…if my 11 and 13 year old daughters are the target market…they succeeded!! They have been playing her music NON STOP since it became available. At least for me it is a much needed break from Miley!!

  • wowww this chick adjusts to whatever is “IN”…. some years ago, she won some show in a hispanic channel, and back then she was “latin pop artist” so her whole appearance was toned down. Now she wants to be “rock star” and she has this whole other look because it’s different. How lame, just be yourself Allison!
