Amy Winehouse Spent 32k on Christmas Decorations

Amy Winehouse

Yes, that headline is intended to infuriate you. Amy Winehouse, who was seen holding a roll of wrapping paper the other day, did not limit her Christmas cheer to just some high-end wrapping supplies. Amy spent over six hours and 32,000 bucks at Selfridges department store in London this past week. Why spend all that money on sparkly balls for your tree when you’ve just had some serious sparkly balls implanted in your chest?

I guess that if anyone deserves to enjoy Christmas (beside, ya know, children and poor people), it’s Amy Winehouse. She’s seeming pretty rehabbed these days and slightly more together than she was a year or two ago.

Most of her moolah was spent on lighting of all kinds (even that annoying musical stuff that you usually find at Nana and Grandpa’s house because they are old and senile enough to find that stuff cute.) When the store manager mentioned to Amy that there was a lot of possible danger involved in installing most of her purchases, she threw down the extra cash to have someone come and do all of the work for her. As if a celebrity would have it any other way.

Oddly enough? The one thing Amy forgot to pick up in addition to her mechanical reindeers and dancing snowflakes? A Christmas tree.

  • Uh, Amy Winehouse was born into a Jewish family. (No need for one of those Christmas tree thingies)
Also, she was spending her own legally earned money. Why the big brouhaha over how Amy Winehouse legally and benignly spent her own money?
This is just an aimlessly bitchy post.

  • If I had the money to pay somebody to turn my house into Santa’s workshop over the holidays, I’d totally do it.
Of course, I’m part magpie, so I’m naturally attracted to shiny things.

  • Rich people blow their money on all kinds of impractical stuff – 50,000 sqare foot houses, stylists, private jets, and on and on and on. The others are no different than Amy. Her house is going to look really nice.

  • I’m glad that she was well enough to spend six hours shopping. And that she’s actually capable of planning an event. And she didn’t spend that money on drugs, lawyers and hospital bills (oh, that’s right, they have that awful socialized medicine in England – maybe there was no bill).

  • What the hell is with you people lately? “Oh what has this celebrity done wrong now?” “LEAVE AMY ALONE!!” It’s a fucking gossip site… How about “What has Molls done wrong now??” Did she have the audacity to gossip about a celebrity on a celebrity gossip site? That bitch. :)

    • Point to a single response above that can be summarily described as “LEAVE AMY ALONE!!” Waiting…
If the fabrication of a “story” using a “non-story” is your kind of gossip, then that’s your prerogative.
Throwing in the F-word and writing in all caps doesn’t make your dubious comment more compelling.

      • The first 3 comments can be summarily described as, “LEAVE AMY ALONE!!” We’re talking about a woman who very recently was a complete train wreck wandering around in the middle of the night stoned out of her mind, etc. (I don’t need to remind you of all that, surely) She just recently reappeared after spending some time away on a beach somewhere, got a new set of tits that her dad can’t seem to stop talking about and then went and dropped 30K + on some Christmas decorations when I think she’s actually Jewish… It all sounds like strange behaviour to me when you look at the whole picture and perfectly gossip worthy.

  • money spent on art and decor provides a living for the craftsman/woman or factory worker as well as the shop where it is sold
    the wholesaler, truck driver etc
what self righteous twit or envious person would think otherwise, besides we don’t know what else she does with her time and money
or the parasites she must deal with

    • Good point. Xmas stuff is harmless compared to what she could be spending it on. Maybe she’ll sing with the Christmas carolers who come to visit?

  • Why would that make me angry? If a little Christmas cheer is what Amy needs, then let her have it. Her money!
