Antichrist Trailer: The Craziest Shit You Will See All Day

I have to admit that I haven’t heard a ton of buzz about Antichrist before the trailer hit the nets yesterday, but the pull quotes sprinkled throughout the trailer should set you up for what you are about to see. Anita Singh from The Sunday Telegraph deemed it to be “the most shocking film in the history of the Cannes Film Festival” and Wesley Morris from The Boston Globe said “I don’t think I breathed for the last half– out of shock, out of stress, out of disbelief.” Damn, right? The IMDB plot summary also bears one of the craziest sentences I’ve ever read: “A couple lose their young son when he falls out the window while they have sex in the other room”… and that’s just how the film starts.

Watch the trailer at your own risk and let me know what you think. I know that I’ll definitely want to check this out once it’s released, but most likely from the safety of my own home where I can feel free to cry/pull my Snuggie over my eyes.

  • I read the detailed plot summary (with spoilers) on IMDB. Quite frankly, the plot of this movie sounds really ridiculous – one of those movies where the filmmakers think that confusing and unnecessary = “good.” But I will probably see it, not only to see if the plot really is as unfathomable as it seems but also because it does look genuinely CREEPY.

  • meh. just looks like another stupid horror movie with satanic undertones to make it even scarier. not that interesting to me

  • I love me some scary movies and this looks pretty decent. I am excited/intrigued enough where I will probably avoid spoilers. Plus I love Willem Dafoe too!

Anyone else a fan of the Horrorfest movies? I got hooked after buying “Penny Dreadful” on a whim for one of my many scary movies nights with friends. It was one of the best psychological type scary movies I had seen in a while! Plus we watched the trailers for the other movies that were also part of the “8 Films to Die For” from Horrorfest that year and were almost too scared to watch the movie! haha

  • Blatant advertising on Evil Beet. You think we are all morons?

“The Craziest Shit You Will See All Day” should be retitled “the most over-hyped bland trailer you will see all day”

    • No, this is NOT an advertisement. I found the trailer like anyone else and wanted to write about it. I WISH I was getting paid extra to shill, dude.

      • all right, I apologize Molls. It just seemed like an obvious advertisement because you made it sound so wild in the title of the story. The trailer was pretty middle-of-the-road for the horror genre.

      • If you read what the film is about with spoilers you would get how it isnt like the usual horror film. She actually removes her own clirtoris with scissors ect. Its very very disturbing.

  • I was intrigued so I read the spoilers online and there is some super messed up shit in that movie. The trailer doesn’t give you any idea of what the movie is actually about.

  • The only movie to this day that scared me then and still can make me cringe is the Exorcist, watched it with my Mother when I was six, drive-in cleared out and ours was one of eight cars left when it was over. I cut my teeth on some of the best classic thrillers and horrors, not waisting my money on Antichrist, Hollywood cannot scare me anymore.

    • OMG! The Exorcist is still the scariest movie I have EVER seen. It still completely freaks me out. Have you seen the unrated version where she crawls down the stairs bent over backwards? I told my daughter that I love her very much, but if that ever happened to her I was hitting the road :-) But seriously, what would you do if that ever happened to your daughter? To this day I have never played the Ouija board….

I watched the trailer…it seemed okay as far as scary goes…

      • I saw the Exorcist when I was little too. Scared the shit out of me. I actually slept with a crucifix under my pillow for weeks. Even today I cannot watch that movie.

I do not know what was more shocking, the movie or the fact that my mom let me watch it when I was little?

      • lmao i totally agree with you guys!!! i saw the exorcist for the first time when i was 21… And ’til this day, it is the most horrifying movie ive ever seen…

Im glad to know im not the only one…

    • When i was a kid I saw “Candyman” and that scared me shitless for months. To this day I can never enter a room with a mirror in it without turning the lights on.

  • What’s so “craziest shit you will see all day” about this trailer? It looks like just another derivative knockoff of The Omen crossed with that terrible Hilary Swank movie The Reaping from a few years ago. *yawn*

    • hahaha ‘the reaping’.. that was such a lame movie. everytime I see a horror movie with people everyone is like ‘THAT WAS SOOO GOOD/SCARY’ and im like ‘really? REALLY? Bride of chucky was scarier than that bullshit!’

      • Bride of Chucky that was classic!

I agree with the whole “The Reaping” being lame…

I think the best of the past few years would have to be “The Ring” the original version and possibly a close second “The Ring” the remake… nothing else really comes close to scary that I can think of…

  • Those pull-quotes made it sound SOOOOOO good, but the trailer . . . yeah, I think not. Disturbing, but not scary. Also, I don’t want to see Willem Dafoe having sex, thanks.

      • It’s called free speech dipshit. Or since it’s not your point of view it’s not allowed?

P.S. don’t spew your hate on the mentally handicapped, either. I’d rather be a “retard” any day then be you, pig fucker.

    • Barok Obama? What, is that the evil, alternate version of Barack Obama that exists in the backwards, ” mentally handicapped” universe that Conservatards inhabit? The one where a Marxist mixed race Nazi is trying to kill everyone’s grandma by allowing poor people to have basic medical care? Yeah, that guy SUCKS!!!

  • I just read the synopsis on IMBD, and it has the craziest quotes.
    1. “She attacks her husband mid-coitus in the shed, crushing his genitals with a block of wood. While he is unconscious, She masturbates him until he orgasms, ejaculating blood onto her shirt and face. She then drills a hole through his calf, and bolts a heavy millstone to his leg. She flees outside leaving him unconscious in the shed, throwing the tool She used to tighten the millstone under the cabin.”
    2.
“During a confrontation in the house, She takes a pair of scissors and performs a clitoridectomy upon herself, and curls up on the floor in agnonising pain”
    3.
“Breaking through the floor of the shed, he discovers the tool with which to release the millstone from his leg, and then strangles his wife, killing her. He burns the body outside the cabin on a pyre, which was shown upon his arrival at the cabin.”

    • How are they going to get an “R” rating for that??? If you show it, it’ll be rated NC17 minimum, and if you don’t, no one will know what the hell is going on. Fail.

      • Yeah I can’t believe you just wrote out a major plot point in this movie! haha! i will never see this unless I am actually tied down and forced because I can’t handle a lot of violence (unless it’s a zombie movie) or horror or evil things in general.. but I still can’t believe you wrote out details about the movie!

    • OMFG!!! i guess i didnt read that part…. im so sick and tired of these people who think making horror movies is all about sex.. And sick sex, it’s never normal on this stupid movies nowadays.. What a buncha bullshit.. I will never ever ever see this movie..

  • I have some friends who saw this film at the Toronto Film Festival. From what they said it was the best film they have seen in a long time. One of the most disturbing, but still the best. They are very glad they saw it. As for me, I may never see it…and if I do, I’m like Molls, I’ll wait and see it at home. I may have nightmare just based on their descriptions.

  • I gather it’s a much different ball of wax but I don’t get lured in by horror movies anymore.. Last time it happened was 30 Days of Night. I genuinely thought that seemed like a decent plot and the trailer looked scary and that was the biggest shitpile I think I’ve ever been subjected to.

  • Dear readers of Evil Beet,

I saw this movie at the Cannes Film Festival. And it is NOT a horror movie. Don’t expect the exorcist, saw or scream. It’s all about craziness, violence, mental breakdown. And most of all, it is so misogynist ! Lars Von Trier’s idea is simple : women = devil.
I spent the last 30min of the movie hiding my eyes with my hands. This violence is hard to stand, because it almost seems real. I would never want to see it again, but I’m proud to know it.

So if you want an indie movie about violence and madness, go and watch it, you will never forget. However DO NOT watch it alone at home. You need to go out after, to throw up to eliminate this unhealthy movie.

  • I saw this movie online a few weeks ago. The only cool part is the talking fox the rest is a bunch of BS, and it’s not satanic at all. If anything it’s a movie hating on women ’cause she is kind of an evil bitch. I do like the actors though.

  • I love scary movies, the one that scared me the most to this day was The Exorcist..bothered me for weeks after I saw it, and when a commercial would come on for that movie, I had to turn the sound off on the tv. I will probably see this movie, I watched Last house on the Left a week ago, I thought that was a very violent movie..this sounds worse.

  • Saw the movie a while ago. It builds slowly, then proceeds to demolish anything that came before it. Some will think the violence is too much, but taken in context, it’s one of those movies you see once because you are so blown away, that watching it again will seem like such a let down. Hope that made sense.

  • Hey everyone !! I read some pretty awesome reviews about this movie so I tried to watch it . ” Tried” being they key word here … I had to keep fastforwarding it, it was incredibly boring, stupid and meaningless. It made me lose some of my will to live actually. Unless you wanna see Willem Dafoe naked do not watch this movie.

  • That trailer does the film no justice. My boyfriend is Swedish and is full of steriotypical Swedish “lagom” mentality, however when he went to see this film (it has already been out for a month in the UK) he came back very disturbed, unnerved and shaken up. He said it is nothing like the typical boring hollywood horror movies with things jumping out at you and no plot, this was more psychological and f*cked with your mind. I haven’t seen it because I hate being frightened, but trust me… nobody does “horror” like Scandinavians.

  • I just dont understand why all horror movies have to be pornographic.. I simply dont get it.. What a fucking nightmare.. I will not be watching this AT ALL..

    • Dude it’s not pornographic unless you consider smashing a poor guy’s balls a turn on. It’s just violent.
