After leaving the Ozlem Suer fashion show in Paris yesterday where she walked the runway in a gorgeous black halter gown, Jessica Simpson was greeted by droves of paparazzi. While most stars have security wise enough to shield their clients with their bodies, large sheets of paper, or pretty much anything not transparent, Simpson’s security used a clear plastic rain umbrella to attempt to keep her photograph free. I hope these people were removed from their duties, as the see-through umbrella was about as helpful as a windowpane.

Jessica: there’s photographers out there! We better walk with our eyes closed so that they can’t see us!
Bodyguard: nah, we should use that umbrella so that we don’t trip or fall.
Jessica: so we can see them, but they can’t see us?
Bodyguard: yeah… Something like that…

Who needs air brushing when you have a see-through umbrella to help remove the blemishes on your face?
Well, they’re probably using it as a sort of forcefield. You know, like an invisible barrier, through which no man can hurl his half-empty cup of coffee.
Also, there’s like some sort of a blunt stiletto on the end of the umbrella, by which a bodyguard could conceivably poke-poke a renegade paparazzo to death. So, yeah, not really totally stupid for path-clearing, although a machete mmmmiiiiight work better.
It’s a giant condom! Donkey Punch must have been in the vicinity again.

It’s to create a large flash, therefore ruining the pictures…….. duh
1. Although the umbrella is blatently transperant, perhaps it is ALL THEY HAD – and made the best of what they had.
2. In all likelyhood it was not being used to PREVENT photos of Jessica being taken but rather just to provide a buffer zone betwen her and the paps -> to make sure that they didnt get in her face too much -> it ensures that she can still see where she’s going/putting her feet.
3. “molls” points out that most security would get infront of the celeb, to prevent photos – I don’t think that the point of the umbrella was to prevent photos. Jessica (and her camp) still want photos circulated and they want people to know that she was there IN Paris, At the Ozlem Suer show. Mission accomplished.

Im sure they are using the umbrella to keep the paps from being right in her face. Jessie loves pics taken of her. That black dress she wore on the runway was so ugly.
