Madonna Gets Mercy

Madonna gets whatever she wants and she’s about to receive her newest acquisition.

You’ll remember that Madge lost her original bid to adopt Malawi orphan Mercy, but The Sun is now reporting that Malawi’s Supreme Court is set to approve her appeal application this Sunday.

Madonna, 50, whose two-year application to adopt the three-year-old was blocked by a court in March, has been told the news by her lawyer Alan Chinula.

The ruling is set to be announced next Sunday at Malawi’s Supreme Court of Appeal.

A source there said yesterday: “The paperwork is being typed up now.

“All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She’s off to America.”

A close friend of Madonna said: “She’s ecstatic.

“She made a promise that she wouldn’t give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she’s this determined.”

Madonna’s adoption application was originally rejected because she had not lived in the east African state for 18 months, as required.

But one of the three appeal judges has said that rule was out of date.

The pal added: “No stone has been left unturned to prove that ruling was wrong.”

Congrats to Madonna and her crew!  I think it will be nice for David to have a little sister who hails from his home country.

  • Why would anybody let Madonna have a child? She is a crazy person, well according to anybody who knows here. She only wants this kid because she is a spoiled brat who does not like to lose anything. Anyway, she will have her many nannies raise this kid are her too.

    • Madonna has better things to do than waste her time acting like a spoiled child that needs to get her way. She obviously love the child.

  • Malawi’s Supreme Court is nothing more than an auction where even people can be purchased if one has enough money.

  • There are so many things wrong with this situation I don’t even know where to begin. Taking a child out of their own country and culture, especially while they have living relatives, is unacceptable. So is the fact that this woman could go a long way to single-handedly eradicating poverty in a country like Malawi if she chose to. Why is she so focused on ‘saving’ one child when, if she’s the humanitarian she would like us to believe she is, she should be looking at the bigger picture? If she’s so hell bent on helping Mercy out of that orphanage, why doesn’t she support her family so they’re in a better position to bring her up instead of taking her away from her culture, her language and everything she knows? This is exploitative and it is child stealing and I don’t see how it’s allowed to happen. I used to live in Malawi. It is home to some of the nicest people you will ever meet and it does not deserve to be thrust into this ridiculous international media frenzy for any other reason than for it to become more recognised as a country that needs help as a WHOLE. Most people only know it by its association with that woman and that’s really sad. By adopting Mercy, Madonna is sentencing her to a life of constant media attention, and becoming a complete fuck up like so many other stupid little rich kids. She has consistently flouted the laws of the country ever since she adopted David, proving that she has no real respect for its laws and values. If she was that dedicated, why didn’t she go and live there for 18 months like anyone else in the world would have to do if they wanted to adopt there? Madonna is exploitative, selfish and manipulative. She only wants another child to avoid acknowledging the fact that she’s fast becoming a dried up old shrew.

    • To be fair, the kid was living in an orphanage as the living relatives wanted nothing to do with other, other than when they got paid for interviews.
I’m not a fan of the very public way celebs adopt kids, but I’m kind of on her side here (please don’t hit me).
Totally agree with the fact that the whole country needs a change though, rather than the one-kid-at-a-time approach.

      • fair enough, but i still thing it’s fucking ridiculous that she adopted a kid with living relatives in a country with so many aids orphans who literally have noone. and the fact that she’s adopting at all is mind-boggling to me – she’s too fucking old for a start, and with all her undeserved millions she could really help a country that small with such widespread poverty rather than picking out the cutest kid and exposing them to the insanity that is her life. i know she has a website or whatever but if she wanted to she could do a hell of a lot more. i have nothing against celebrities adopting – did you know that ewan mcgregor adopted a girl while he was filming in mongolia? but noone knows about it because he had the tact, decency and consideration for the child to do it quietly and respectfully. sorry, i could rant about this all day. she’s an idiot.

  • actually, if you go to perezhilton.com, one of madonna’s sweat shop workers claims that it still hasn’t gone through. so everyone can stop yelling now :)

  • I don’t understand why people don’t just adopt from their own country, where there are impoverished children who need help as well? I think she should’ve used all the money she paid for her flights and lawyers with to help communities over there on a wider scale, rather than an individual. Teach a man to fish, and all that.

At least she’s doing something though, that’s true.

  • so does this mean Angelina is going to rush and adopt? or will it be Jenifer Aniston or Paris?

Did somebody actually tell these people they are not purse dogs and need love and attention, and by what I mean by attention is mummy wiping your ass not the paps snapping photo’s?

Good thing there arent any American children in need of a good home though. Good thing she didnt make most of her money here and didnt chose to help out kids here.

She is loser trash. Or was we say “White trash with cash”

  • you know what burns my ass about all of this? I bet if I were a 50 year old middle class (but offering a damned great home) woman looking to adopt, it would be stopped because of my age. Not to mention the fact if I were a divorced 50 year old.

    • rayne – not to mention if you were a divorced 50 year old who was unable to keep her clothes on in public.

  • Such bitterness towards Madonna. I don’t know or care what her motives are, but I know this. If I had a choice between growing up in an orphanage and growing up in Madonna’s house, I’d pick Madonna’s house without hesitation. Hell, I’d let her adopt me right now if she wanted to.

    • how incredibly small minded of you ashley. i’m sure if you read all the above posts properly you would uderstand that it’ not about bitterness, or about ‘picking madonna’s house’ over an orphanage. idiot.

  • So, you would all say you would let a child live in bad conditions rather than having a safe & comfortable place to live? David Banda seems happy, & now he will have a sister, like him. Mercy’s parents did not want anything to do with her. And now all of a sudden they do, since Madonna is involved with it. It’s terrible. Just let Madonna adopt the little girl. Yes, she is 50. So? That does not mean she can’t be a good mother.
