Demi Lovato’s Recording a New Album, Wants to Sound Like John Mayer

I will totally admit to being a closet Demi Lovato fan. I actually thought her debut album, Don’t Forget, was pretty good. There were a few tracks I hated, but a bunch that I loved, and I’m secretly kind of psyched to hear that she’s doing a second album. Okay, I guess it’s not really a secret anymore. Also: she’d like it to sound like John Mayer. She actually used the phrase “John Mayer-ish.”

“I’m actually recording … well, writing the album right now. It’s going to take a different sound, so hopefully it goes over well,” she said. “I sing a lot of rock, but this time I want to do more John Mayer-ish type of songs. Hopefully I can write with people like him. I love their music — it would be amazing.”

When I hear the phrase “John Mayer-ish,” I don’t really think of music. I think of asshole. Like, “I want to date a guy who’s really talented and successful and rich, but lets it go to his head and then treats me like crap and cheats on me constantly. You know, someone John Mayer-ish.”

Anyway, good luck with this, Demi. I’m excited to hear what you come up with.

  • I think Demi has the most amazing voice, especially for her age. But I don’t like her music, so a change in style might just convert me.

    We’ll see how it pans out.

    • But all she does is belt… she doesn’t sing at all.
      She just yells and people think it sounds good.
      When her voice is completely deteriorated I guess she’ll learn.

  • i think demi is very talented as well as gorgeous…but is it just me or is this pic one of the worst i’ve ever seen of her? i’m not sure if she’s young..or its the hair, makeup, angle, smile, lighting but…jeez.
    i’m interested to hear the new album too…anything less pop-y would be an improvement and make me more likely to purchase!

  • well I would like to start by sayin that i read the guide to commenting and i just want u to read this..i know it wont be published..my point is i want my poinion to be heard.
    1. the republican party is GREAT..just because u dont like them doesnt mean that u shud ban people for liking them..if i had a site i wudnt care if sum1 liked the democrats even tho i dont..ugh this is SUCH a democrat thing to do.

  • Abbi is entitled to her opinion, but b/c this is a page about demi and her upcoming projects it’s pretty much geared toward her fans. ppl don’t wanna see negative things written about her.
    i’m pretty sure abbi just wrote that stuff to piss ppl off so there’s no need in directly responding to her immaturity

  • I love Demi Lovato. So to all those haters out there know this; Demi sings waaaaay better than another other disney star Disney has ever known. Waaaay better than Miley… But what I’m trying to say is, please don’t hate her. She is amazing for her age. And just amazing period. YOU try to sing those high notes. YOU try and sing as well as her. Cause I can garintee, you can’t do it. Your probably just ratting on her because your jealous of her incredible voice…

    • i agree Demi is asome and wey better then mily cause Demi use to be bulied and i have days where i am bulied to so i know how she feels and she is better then miley cause she is only famous cause her dad and her at salinas friendship is amazing and i can relate cause i have a friend like that and she does not yell so stop being ass holes miley does

  • demi lovato does not yell. she has such a career ahead of her and she is only 16! i think her friendship with selena is truly amazing and i have a friend like that to so i can totally relate. i dont think demi is the next miley cause she is sooo much better than her! miley is only famous cause of her dad and cant sing for her life. her lyrics are good but she is just a horrible role model that her songs turn out like garbage. however, im not a huge fan of demi’s new sound. it kinda sounds a little techno-ish but i still love the album cause her voice is perfect.

  • I kinda agree with everyone. I think Demi Lovato has a good voice. But, I’m really disappointed that she changed her hair. I liked it when it was light brown. And like Leslie said, if you watch Disney Channel cartoons and you’re OLDER than 8 years old, you know you’re a loser. I’d only watch Disney Channel if someone got beaten up on the DC Games.

  • I actually HAVE both of Demi’s albums, and to tell you the truth, I liked her first one better. But I think it’s good that people get to state their opinions on blogs and stuff, instead of just keeping them a secret. It makes you feel a lot better.

  • ppl, even tho you dont watch disney channel gives you no excuse to hate anyone from disney. disney is for little people. if u guys watch it then w.e.
    the point is behind disney channel is real people just like you guys trying to work and make money, trying to do something unlike alot of other ppl. so just shut up. if u meet demi lovato right now , she will probably be a normal person like every one of you. also what has she done to you. miley hasent done anything, demi hasedt and no one has. so just leave it alone. if u dont like how they sing or if u call them ugley, ur just jealous. leave them alone cuz they are just regular people just like you and me.
