The latest word coming out of Camp Twilight is that Dakota Fanning is likely to play the role of Jane in the new movie.

Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series.
In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises.” While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix “are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her,” the casting notice reads.
Coincidentally (or maybe not), an online petition started by a Twilight fan already asks the studio, Summit Entertainment, to cast Fanning because she would be “perfect” for the role.
Frankly, it does sound like Dakota would be perfect for this role.

Um, Dakota? Yeah, she is cute and all, but let her stick to some shit where she doesnt have to act much. I love her and all, but as a- and I am embarassed yet proud to say it- die hard fan, lets leave it to someone with some more experience. there are other short blonds. if not, there is the magic of SFX that can make people look larger or smaller. The transition from child star-teen star-adult star is a very difficult one. Dakota has to find her place and style.
Personally, I haven’t read the Twilight books or seen the movie…but based on that description, it fits her.
I love her – I saw the War of Worlds trailer and she made me tear up. Couldn’t bear to watch the film (Tom Cruise makes me feel stabby), but she is a fab actress.

the first movie wasn’t bad, but be serious….anyone who read the book SHOULD say that its incredibly much MUCH better than the movie, I mean the change a hundred of things!!!! some of them pretty unnecessary, like why didn’t she met Jacob in the fist beach like in the book?? it was stupid to put him in the beginning when Charlie gave her the truck….my point is, it was not necessary to change that part, why didn’t they leave it the same? the book is way better than the movie….the movie wasn’t good at all

It does sound like she fits the description, but really now, why would she want to do that movie? New Moon needs her more than she needs New Moon.

I imagined a younger person for some reason like a scary 8 year old lol I’m not sure why but that’s what I had in my brain. Buuut I do like the idea of her as jane, she’s an amazing actress. Which, honestly and I’ll probably be attacked for this but there isn’t any good actress in the twilight films so the film does need her.

Agree again. I am all against this whole Fanning idea. and the more i think about it, the less I like it. though, whether she gets cast or not, Im seeing the movie. I love the books/movies too much to blow them off over a growing and not yet amazing actress.
Well, I think the casting would be good — *if* they can stop her from growing. Jane plays a big part in the fourth movie. However, when all is said and done, I doubt they can afford her. Twilight only had a $37M budget and New Moon is only getting $50M. She’s making about $3M a movie now. Can they afford 6% of the filming budget on one person, who’ll only be the in the movie for about 15 minutes?
They should be careful casting Dakota Fanning for New Moon, she might steal the show

In the books, it never says Jane is a child, it says she has a child-like face. I honestly don’t think Fanning is the right choice. If the pick a child, pick someone a little scary and creepy. I don’t think she can pull it off

I feel that people are over reacting. I was quit disapointed when I learned that Dekota will not be at least half naked in the rape scene o her new movie. Yeah sure she’s 15, and we did watch her grow up, but that all contributes to the emotion that could be generated from the movie.
I feel that this law that you may not show anything before 18 is crap, it should be more like a regulation. I mean if you’re old enough to decide to have sex at 12, why arn’t you old enough to be naked in the media at 16?
