Do you guys ever have those days at work where you’re like, “Whatever happens today, I can’t possibly do anything productive?” I’m having one of those days. I keep trying to, like, do my job, and something shiny always distracts me. Like, one of the DVD editors for Film.com just got the Blu-Ray version of The Man Who Fell to Earth, which is like this indie sci-fi flick from the ’70s where David Bowie stars as an alien living in America with a British accent and everyone just generally appears to be high the whole time. I mean, just watching it makes you think you might be a little high. There’s also a scene where David Bowie has alien sex. Honestly. Like, he doesn’t have a penis, he just has a nub, and then they goo all over each other and that’s how aliens have sex. I dunno. But, like, half the Film.com team just spent a portion of the afternoon watching David Bowie have goo-sex on Blu-Ray (which, incidentally, had phenomenal quality for a movie made in the ’70s).
Anyway, here’s a bunch of new pics of Ricky Martin and the twins he had through a surrogate, Matteo and Valentino, who are four months old here. The pics will be running in a variety of publications this week.
Ricky does an extensive interview with Hola magazine for their spread, and at no point are they like, “So, you’re totally gay, right?” which he totally is. I really wish that he’d come out. He’s a fantastic example of a gay man raising a beautiful family through non-traditional means and I wish he’d be willing to talk about it and be a positive gay role model. I think it would do a lot of good. I mean, frankly, it’s not like he has this fantastic career to protect at this point. Just come out and talk about it, Ricky!
The babies are cute and almost look identical.. I just want to know why baby boys are both wearing bracelets on their right wrists? That seems a bit strange to me.
why should all gay people have to be spokespeople for gayness? maybe he just wants to be gay and leave it at that.

I never fell for the one-hit-wonder Ricky Martin. I hope he is up to the task of fatherhood. Children do need a Mom. Wonder where she is? Does the Mom get to see her children?

The babies are adorable! He looks totally thrilled. I’m happy for him. I agree, it would be great if he would be the first one to make the big step and say “Here I am, I have 2 babies, I’m gay, so what.” The more exposure of single/married/partnered gays having families, the more the acceptance will follow.

It is very common for Latins and also Italians (both of my family) for boy babies to wear gold bracelets and for girl babies to have their ears pierced.
Dear god, I love that movie. I would love it way more if there was less (re: none) of Rip Torn’s penis (or maybe less teenage girls calling it “daddy”), but hey, we can’t have everything.

in latin cultures it’s considered good luck to wear gold, that’s why you see a lot of latin kids wearing gold bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. it’s not just some gaudy statement.
Ok.. I need to breathe. Beet, I love you, so I say this with love. America is beautiful, it’s my home and I am in no way shape or form attacking my country. Just because Ricky was a one hit wonder here in the USA it does not mean he is not a superstar out there in the other countries that also exist on this planet we call earth. He is actually had a career for decades now and he continues to be very, very succesful. Google it. It may not be in English, but that doesn’t mean its not valid. You probably also think Enrique Iglesias and Shakira are sitting at home playing Sudoku. Trust me they are not.
I fear adopting children has become like getting one of those small dogs that you carry in your purse. Let’s remember people that these are very small human beings and not just a fashion accessory.
I don’t think he wanted a fashion accessory. And he didn’t even adopt them. He was planning a family. He used a surrogate mother. A lot of thought and time goes into stuff like that.
