Jennifer Aniston Doesn’t Help 30 Rock’s Ratings

Jennifer Aniston’s appearance on 30 Rock last night garnered the show a season-low rating of 7.5M viewers. Hm. I thought Jen was still America’s golden girl?

In general, though, 30 Rock‘s numbers have been up this season, ostensibly fueled by Tina Fey’s impeccable Sarah Palin impressions on SNL.

In contrast, Anthony Edwards’ return to ER boosted the show 1.2M viewers over the previous week, to 9.8M viewers.

Who is still watching ER?

Honestly, I was in eighth grade when that show started. That show has been on for eons. How are they not out of plotlines?

  • They’re starting to copy some of the plotlines from Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs. I personally think that the show should have been over a while ago. But good for them for still getting so many viewers.

  • That’s because 30Rock BLOWS CHUNKS. I would rather watch the Food Network *shudder* all dya long than one hour of that tedious bullshit.

  • Well, I sure as hell watched it. 30 Rock is genius, but it could do without the lame stunt casting like Aniston. I mean, she wasn’t bad necessarily, but the part could have been played by anyone. They’ve been ignoring supporting cast members like Pete and Toofer because of the stunt casting. So lame!

  • She’s the same kind of ‘star’ that Ben Affleck used to be and most of the people written about on sites like this are: people will read gossip about them but won’t actually go out of their way to see them in a movie or TV show.

Aniston, Lohan, Paris, etc. get lots of news coverage but few people will actually pay to see them perform.

  • E.R has been around for a long ass time. I was hoping that this season they would bring back Clooney! lol! =)

    I am still hoping!

  • I’m waiting for a Clooney appearance also! Yes, I still watch ER! It’s actually been good this year-sorry it’s going off.

  • jen was actually really funny – it was good to see her do some crazy comedy like back in the day when she was on friends. i do agree tho, that all the stunt casting has been ignoring supporting cast members like two-fer, etc. who are actually REALLY funny… 30 rock is awesome tho

  • I really like ER, but I never watched it until last year. We had to discuss it in ethics class in nursing school. Evidently medical ethics teachers use it a lot because there’s a bunch of good ethicsy situations each episode, while keeping the bullshit to a minimum. I’m talking to you, Grey’s.

  • i don’t think it was intended, but did anyone else think maybe her role of insane chick that sleeps around was a little too close to reality?
