Uh, Ashton Kutcher’s Coaching High-School Football

The freshman football team at LA’s exclusive Harvard-Westlake school just got a whole lot cooler than varsity.

Ashton Kutcher is their new assistant coach.

And, no, it’s not for a role. “I asked him why he wanted to coach,” said the head coach of the team about Ashton’s interview process. “He said he’s a dad, he has three daughters, and none of them are into sports. He loves football, and he said he’d always wanted to coach.”

Ashton will attend practice five days a week and receive a salary for the gig. I just think this is funny because I bet there were a handful of frosh dudes who made the varsity or JV teams and acted like they were the fucking coolest thing ever because of it and now the guys they were being dicks to are all like, “Yeah, dude, enjoy playing on JV. I’ll be there next year. This year, though, I’m just gonna enjoy getting head from every chick in school because Ashton Kutcher is my fucking football coach. Peace.”

And don’t waste your time scrutinizing every inch of the team’s website for Ashton’s contact info or naked locker room photos — neither is there. I already looked. A lot.

  • Yeah, his football coaching abilities should rival Brett Favre’s acting ability in Something About Mary.

Actors should stick to acting and not singing, clothing lines, or football coaching and singers should stick to singing and not acting as very few of them have the chops to pull that off. I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but the “smart” celebrities seem to be the rappers (although there are some who try out acting and clothing lines) who take a percentage of ownership of companies and then promote the hell out of them in their videos and appearances for a hefty profit. (See: Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and the windfall he received from the sale of Vitamin Water as a result of substantial shares he received and held in exchange for endorsement.)

  • Just because he’s an actor doesn’t mean he knows nothing about anything else. Who’s to say he didn’t play football in high school or when he was kid? ASSISTANT coaching a freshman level h.s. football team doesn’t exactly require experience in the pros so I don’t see the problem, and kudos to him if he wants to help kids progress in sports.

  • What about games? Will he be attending games? Aren’t there any young guys in the community who are trying to break into coaching and can’t because of this actor? Why doesn’t he volunteer? Why does he need a salary?

  • Um i go to that school and everyone was surprised he was there and it’s not getting to anyones head..every one there has rich parents or famous ones so it doesnt really matter to them,

  • Fleur, frosh means freshmen.

I think it’s hilarious and cute that he’s doing this.
And also, c’mon, seriously, it’s freshman football… how qualified do you have to be, Down Unda? What makes him less qualified to coach football than an algebra teacher?

“Why doesn’t he volunteer? Why does he need a salary?”
Really? Maybe because he’s doing a job, he should get paid for it. Just how much money do you think he’s making for this? It’d be more absurd if they didn’t pay him. He’s going to be spending time and effort on coaching these kids, he deserves pay for it.

Though actually, I’m basing this on my middle-class suburban public high school experience, not some fancy academy for the young wealthy and gifted…

Hope his team doesn’t suck this season. :)

  • Its a dream job for anybody who knows the x’s and o’s of the the game and wants to get their foot in the door for coaching. Plenty of coaches will kill for a non-paid position at this school. It’s a joke that he’s getting this position. Who gives a crap if he likes/or is a fan of football. Its like me asking for a position at Morton’s steakhouse cause I like a good steak. Got a cold and am bored, so I looked him up on wikipedia, and lets just say that I would never allow this d-bag around a high school or athlete…suicide and smoking weed?…really???

  • While I think it’s great that he wants to coach because of his love of sports and kids, I have issues with why he chose to do it at Harvard Westlake. I mean, wouldn’t it be more meaningful to students at a public school or something? How about a youth league through parks and rec? They’re always looking for coaches. My brother played on a basketball team with 2 teenage buddies as coaches. It was the only time he ever had a coach that wasn’t a parent and he LOVED it. Those guys were just doing it for the same reasons as Ashton. Basically, I think his effort would be more appreciated alsewhere.

  • He is NOT a dad, he does NOT have three daughters, Bruce Willis has three daughters. And Bruce should permanently rearrange his face for insulting him (and all fathers) in this way. I’d pay to see it!

  • ^ Just because he didn’t produce the girls with Demi does not make him any less of a father, Veronica. You are remarkably closed-minded.

Good luck to the guy! May his team have many victories :)

  • Why don’t you all just support him I always support him no matter what he does…I think it’s great he got excepted he can do anything he puts his mind to just like anyone else…I am happy for him and I think he should always follow his dreams him hiself proves that anything is possible if we want it and we go for it we can do it….whoo hoo…..go Ashton!! :)

  • Are you kidding…he played football in high and he watches it all the time and they won their first game I know that for a fact….that say’s something about him…if he didn’t know anything than they wouldn’t have won their first game

  • Caz 2 I can’t agree more…I am just now seeing what veronica said and I am a big fan of ashton’s and it affends me….I am sure he is a wonderful parent he helps raise them….He helps take care of them everyday he’s the steptdad he is a dad to them and he deserves to be called dad…Ashton if you are reading this sweetie…don’t let anyone ever tell you that…I know you are wonderful to thoose girls and just for that and being their you deserve to be called dad…never forget that!!
