The Dark Knight: Review!

Is everyone super-duper excited to check out The Dark Knight this weekend???

Who’s planning on going?

I already saw it at the press screening earlier this week — in IMAX, too! — and I have to say I absolutely adored it.

In case you have any doubts about whether or not you should check it out this weekend, be sure to read Film.com’s review of the movie.

  • I’ll wait a few weeks to avoid the crazy crowd, but I’m definitely excited. The movie was hyped to death but I’m still enthusiastic.

  • Beet, you totally did not see it in IMAX. You saw it shown on an IMAX screen. It was not shot in IMAX. There is a massive difference

  • Sprocket–“For its release in IMAX theaters, Nolan shot four major action sequences in that format, including the Joker’s introduction, and said that he wished that it were possible to shoot the entire film in IMAX: “if you could take an IMAX camera to Mount Everest or outer space, you could use it in a feature movie.”

Beet-Just saw the movie and it was spectacular!!! And WHAT a sexy mouth Bale has. Was it just me or was Heath’s performance borderline sexy? Meow. :D

  • Yeah I thought there were 20 minutes of it shot in IMAX. I just saw it last night at the Burbank midnight showing… I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. I don’t think it’s oscar material except for maybe costume or makeup or one of those sort of auxiliary awards, but it was sooooo good and really entertaining.

  • I saw it today…on my birthday! Woohoo!! It was great. Loved it, even though it was long (my ass kept falling asleep), but it was totally worth the pain I’m in now (7 mos. preggo and turning 31 y.o. is not a fun combination).

  • it was amazing! i also don’t think it will be nominated for an oscar.. it’s not really the typical oscar movie. (then again dreamgirls was nominated and that movie blew chunks). anyway.. heath ledger was amazing! the way that he performed as the joker was just magnificent. everyone in the theater was like cracking up, but scared at the same time. the way he delivered those lines was just perfect and yes batman is sooo hot. i loved the movie. i might go see it again next week after seeing stepbrothers i’ll probably sneak in for this movie. it’s good to see twice because there’s so much going on and i’ll catch action i missed before. this movie is going to make so much money. i went at 9:30 in the morning to see it and the theater was PACKED and then on my way out there was a line all the way to the door to come in. craziness.

  • I saw the midnight screening last night too! If you are at all a fan of any of the following: 1) Batman 2) Action movies 3) Comic books 4) Heath Ledger 5) Christian Bale 6) Morgan Freeman 7) Gary Oldman 8) Gratuitous violence 9) Seeing people dressed up at the theatre in Heath Ledger/Joker face paint or 10) Things that are fucking awesome, you need to see this movie. Heath deserves a posthumous Oscar nod. The movie was amazing. And I’m going to Boston this weekend (I hope) to see it in IMAX!

Oh, and I’m So Glam, I Piss Glitter: No, Heath’s performance was not borderline sexy, it was panting-drenching sexy. Yes, I’m just that twistwed. Meow ain’t the half of it, honey! Yowzah!!

  • Uh… that should be panty-drenching sexy. I was convulsing with orgasmic shutters and missed a letter. ;)

  • I saw it this afternoon. LOVED IT. Heath as the Joker didn’t make me wet, sorry. But it was an amazing movie. My favorite scene was definitely: “Who wants to see a magic trick?” The entire theater DIED in horrified laughter.

  • Just saw this earlier today, all I have to say is FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!

I do think this movie deserves an oscar nod for the script, I think it was amazing. Yes the actors are brilliant, especially Heath of course, but the writing is just phenomenal!

  • Wow! what a performance! makes you fall in love with the evil side!
    The acting deserves an oscar, no question! Even his voice sounds so different!! b r i l l i a n t .

  • ugh- it was my birthday tooo!:):)

and i just got home from seeing it.
    and omg.
pretty much all i can say is, epic.
    wow.

  • Point taken on the IMAX front. I wasn’t sure but had some lengthy discussions about it with some friends last night and the consensus was, “it could be possible”. I will certainly eat crow on that front.

This is very exciting as it’s showing at the theatre across the street from my office, and it has an IMAX screen. Thinking ‘off-site meeting’ next week.
