Mike Tyson’s Daughter Passes

Not just as a parent but just as a general human being, it breaks my heart to report this.

CNN is reporting that Mike Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter Exodus has died from her injuries after an accidental strangling via treadmill cable yesterday.

Why do things like this happen?  I don’t know what the lesson is.

Prayers, thoughts and strength sent out to their entire family.

Thanks, Shanna.

  • You know how kids sometimes block out horrible things? I’m praying her brother blocks out having found her. The thought that he’ll remember is horrifying me right now.

    • Blocking out traumatic events often leads to big problems later in life, so i hope that he does not block it out but rather is given the help he is very much going to need to deal with this experience.

  • I knew this story was coming at some point today. But my stomach still hurt when I read it.

  • I agree Beet. I knew this was coming, but when i saw it my stomach did a very quick sink.
my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  • Life can be so fleeting. It’s such a terrible loss to lose a child. I can’t imagine the heartbreak her family must be going through. I had a feeling that she would die when I read that she was on life-support. That is NEVER a good sign. Rest in peace Baby Girl.

  • May God bless this beautiful child who died too young. I don’t know why this happens either. Heartbreaking. Let’s be kind to each other. Like I once heard “Be kind to everyone. You never know what they are struggling with.”

  • Maybe the lesson here Wendie is that those of us with kids that age need to stop and take a second look at at our own homes and environments. After reading this I immediately went and looked at my own treadmill to make sure there weren’t any cords hanging from it. I simply cannot imagine having to deal with this loss and my thoughts are with the Tyson family.

  • Thats devestating. I’m so sad for him. She was a beautiful little girl and didnt deserve that fate.

  • I am no Mike Tyson apologist. But, I feel that for CNN to quote a source as saying “All injuries are preventable. There are ways to babyproof your home,” Stone said. ” is very irresponsible, and tantamount to accusing the Tyson family of negligence. Give the guy a break. Why rub salt in the wound by implying that the mother and father were at fault? RIDICULOUS. I hope that whoever this Stone person is, has a completely, totally, random, unforeseeable, unpredictable, unstoppabe misfortune fall upon them. Then lets see how their best laid plans shall come to their rescue!!!!!!!!!!

  • A few years ago, my husband got rid of a piece of exercise equipment he deemed dangerous for our child to be around. I never gave it any thought until yesterday when I read the article about Exodus and shuddered. Heartbreaking to lose a child, my thoughts and prayers go out to their family.

  • I just had my first baby on Friday. I have never felt such overwhelming love for one person, and I repeatedly check on him when he’s sleeping to make sure he’s OK. The thought of losing him at any stage is just unbearable. I can’t imagine how this poor family must be feeling right now. I will be praying for them all.

    God bless little Exodus.

  • When we were children, my sister once almost accidentally hung herself on a toy hammock… This could have been her, if my mum hadn’t have found her on time.
It’s so sad, and as I know from my sister’s experience, it’s really NOBODY’S fault… Children will have accidents with things you thought were perfectly safe.

    Rest in Peace Exodus.

(P.S. Horrible thread to have to put it in, but congrats Grace on the birth of your little one)

    • Thank you, Rae Rae.

It’s a reminder that grief is something that can only have been born out of love.

  • My heart goes out to Mike and his family. May God hold them close in this hour of need and ease the pain they are suffering. I will keep his family in my prayers.
