Rihanna Wouldn’t Join Taylor Swift On Stage

Taylor Swift is still on her 1989 World Tour, and it’s become expected that she’ll be bringing out a “special guest” at every single concert. This might be a fellow artist that she performs with, or it could just be a random famous person that happened to be in town and didn’t mind walking the catwalk with her. It’s corny and obnoxious, but it’s her thing. She’s had the likes of Nick Jonas, Julia Roberts, the US Women’s Soccer Team, and basically every other celebrity in existence. One star she’s got no chance of ever having on stage with her, however, is Rihanna. RiRi says she’s not feeling it because it would make zero sense since their brands are entirely different, which is totally true and makes perfect sense to me.

From NME (via Hollywood Life):

The “American Oxygen” singer spoke candidly about Tay and her “role model” status in a new interview, revealing why she thinks it “doesn’t make sense” to join her on stage.

Rihanna and Taylor both have a ton of star power, and we would love to see these talented ladies collaborate! Sadly, Ri just killed that dream. When asked if she would join Taylor on tour, she told NME magazine: “I don’t think I would. I just don’t think it makes sense.” But why not? “I don’t think our brands are the same. I don’t think they match, I don’t think our audiences are the same,” Rihanna continued. “In my mind she’s a role model, I’m not.”

That just made me love Rihanna even more. Even Nicki Minaj had to eventually play peacemaker and share a stage with Taylor at the VMAs to show there was no “bad blood”, so to speak. Rihanna’s completely right that she and Taylor make no sense together, so why SHOULD she go on stage with her? Just because it’s Taylor and everyone loves her? I don’t think so.
