Johnny Depp’s Dogs Will Be Put Down If He Doesn’t Leave Australia

This is a bit of a strange one, I must admit, but I truly don’t get why people don’t just… you know, abide by the law. Basically, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard recently arrived in Australia on a private jet. The problem is that they had their two dogs, Boo and Pistol, on board and they didn’t declare them. In Australia, you have to keep your dogs under quarantine for 10 days when you arrive to assure they don’t have any weird diseases. Since they didn’t do that, Australia told them to GTFO by Saturday or they’re gonna put the dogs down. Seems a bit extreme, don’t you think?

From TMZ:

If Johnny, or more accurately … Boo and Pistol don’t hightail it out of Oz by Saturday — the country’s Agriculture minister says they will be put down.

A rep for Johnny — who’s down there shooting the 5th ‘Pirates’ flick — told the AP the dogs are under a “home quarantine” … but wasn’t more specific than that.

I’m confused – why would not having them in quarantine mean the dogs need to be killed? Like, honestly, what sense does that make? Maybe Johnny will be heavily fined, or the dogs will be taken by authorities for forceful quarantine or whatever, but to kill them just to make a point? Sorry, not seeing the logic in that one.

Pistol is Amber’s dog that she’s had for years and poses in photo shoots with and the like, and she’s a massive animal lover so I’m sure she’ll be kicking up shit over this. My question is why they didn’t just declare them LIKE THE LAW SAYS THEY SHOULD when they arrived. Obviously they thought they could just get away with it since they’re famous, and that it’s not a big deal because the dogs are healthy, etc, but rules are rules, man.

However, those rules should NOT mean dogs are “put down” if they’re not quarantined, especially when they’re clearly not stray/feral. Something weird’s going on there.

  • The authorities, this minister, wanted a bit of free publicity and with this overreaction, toward a very famous couple (because, with a “nobody” i’m sure they would have contact them privately and they would have been hugely fined and put the dogs in quarantine) he get that. Free publicity. Maybe is election year in Australia? he want to be candidate for “something”, this look very political (because in other case, there’s no way any minister would do a press conference to talk about two dogs)

  • Johnny Depp has a dog and it’s a……..Yorkie?! Amber made him get a matching doggie…that’s a perfect example of a Class-A p*ssy-whipped guy!!!

  • I am so tired of celebrities thinking & acting as though laws, rules, and policies are meant for everyone else to comply with to except them. “Especially” matters that call for conduct that they simply don’t feel is important enough for them to be concerned with. So, as much of an animal lover as I am, in this case I would love to see the Australian government make this asshole watch them put these dogs down, as an example to him and every other self righteous celebrity that thinks the world exists merely for their convenience. The world needs to stop catering to all of these overpaid, over endulged, abusive celebrities across the board!

    • I think you should be put down. Yes the dogs should be quarantined and it is a shamed that Johnny did not do this but we do not know the reason behind the fact that they were not. Maybe it was an over site on his part and they should have been notified not threatened. The minister is just trying to make an example to all animal lovers by showing that they will kill any animal of celebrities like Johnny and Amber by penalizing their dogs. Yes in most countries you do have to quarantine you animals but some countries you do not, if you have up to date vet papers, shot records some times this is wavered. I agree that some celebrities think that they are above the law and that their sh.. does not stink but not all of them do. Johnny is one of the good guys. He made a mistake. Don’t take it out on the dogs.

  • There are laws in place like this in tons of countries for international travel with domesticated animals. If the animal is carrying a disease that can spread rapidly that they do not have in a certain country, they are within their right to terminate the animal if that’s what their laws state. Hawaii has eradicated Rabies and has extreme measures to make sure it does not come back to islands if someone does not follow protocol for bringing a pet there. I don’t understand why it is considered “extreme” when they are just asking a celebrity to adhere to the same laws every other traveler has to. You guys always get so pissy because celebrities think they can skate the law and because they get let off easy because of their celebrity status and when a country holds a celebrity accountable for breaking the law, they’re being “extreme” just because it involves their pets. How about instead of blaming the government of Australia, you blame the fucking celebrity for thinking he could get around international travel and domesticated animal import/export laws? He put his pets in harms way by either not educating himself on the laws of the country he was travelling to, or he knew those laws and decided he couldn’t be bothered to follow them. This is his fucking fault, not the fault of the country of freaking Australia. Jesus.
