I feel like Lady Gaga has talked about being raped as a teenager before, but I must have been imagining that because she apparently made the revelation during an interview with Howard Stern this week, and everyone is going crazy. It’s messed up that she was raped, but people seem to be more interested in the fact that her abuser may have been none other than Dr. Luke.
“I wrote a song called ‘Swine.’ The song is about rape. The song is about demoralization. The song is about rage and fury and passion, and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release. I said to myself, ‘I want to sing this song while I’m ripping hard on a drum kit, and then I want to get on a mechanical bull’—which is probably one of the most demoralizing things that you can put a female on in her underwear—’and I want this chick to throw up on me in front of the world so that I can tell them, you know what? You could never, ever degrade as much as I could degrade myself, and look how beautiful it is when I do.'”
“I went through some horrific things that I’m able to laugh [at] now, because I’ve gone through a lot of mental and physical therapy and emotional therapy to heal over the years. My music’s been wonderful for me. But, you know, I was a shell of my former self at one point. I was not myself. To be fair, I was about 19. I went to Catholic school and then all this crazy stuff happened, and I was going, ‘Oh, is this just the way adults are?’…I was very naïve.”
“You keep alluding to…were you raped by a record producer?” Stern asked.
“I don’t…I don’t want to…” Gaga replied. “Happy times! Let’s talk about happy things!”
Oh, shit. It’s Kesha‘s lawyer, Mark Geragos, that claims Dr. Luke is the record producer behind Gaga’s rape (and of course behind Kesha’s, as well), but both Dr. Luke’s and Gaga’s publicist are trying to clear up that shit storm real quick:
“Mark Geragos’ statement is completely false and defamatory,” a rep for Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, said in a statement obtained by E! News Tuesday. “Luke met Lady Gaga twice for less than half an hour total in those two meetings combined. He has never been alone with her and never touched her. Neither meeting was in that time frame reported.”
Gaga’s publicist tells E! News: “This ridiculous, manufactured link between Lady Gaga and the Kesha-Dr. Luke lawsuit is utterly incomprehensible. This simply isn’t true and how dare someone take advantage of such a sensitive matter.”

Oh man, this is such a mess all around. Was it Dr. Luke? I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised, but who knows. If Gaga doesn’t want us to know, it’s not our business.
I understand that she’s getting help and this is part of it? Good for her then. I wish more people would report, but I absolutely get why they don’t. It just might help clear out more of these psychos.
