Taraji P. Henson is treated like she’s a D-List celeb

“I’m treated like I’m on the D-list,” Taraji said. “I’m still being considered with actresses who haven’t done half the stuff I’ve achieved.” “When people tell me ‘no,’ I get hyped,” she added. “Because when I prove that I can and will, I love watching people eat crow.” While she might think she is treated as though she is on the D-list, Taraji says she uses her status to get some special treatment to get her “fat ass into a restaurant. If someone tells me there’s a wait, I’ll walk right to the front of the line like, ‘I need a table now. I need to eat, and I want this. So let’s work this out.’” Read more at ONTD: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/90982547.html#ixzz3D0IWms1J

Without a doubt, Taraji P. Henson is an amazingly talented actress who has starred in some amazing movies and has even been nominated for an Oscar. All that being said, you’d think people would respect her more, but that’s not the case. According to Taraji, she’s treated like she’s on the D-List!

From Ebony (via Just Jared):

“I’m treated like I’m on the D-list,” Taraji said. “I’m still being considered with actresses who haven’t done half the stuff I’ve achieved.”

“When people tell me ‘no,’ I get hyped,” she added. “Because when I prove that I can and will, I love watching people eat crow.”

While she might think she is treated as though she is on the D-list, Taraji says she uses her status to get some special treatment to get her “fat ass into a restaurant. If someone tells me there’s a wait, I’ll walk right to the front of the line like, ‘I need a table now. I need to eat, and I want this. So let’s work this out.’”

I guess she was trying to have an LOL moment there, talking about using her fame to get into restaurants and shit, but this whole thing rubs me the wrong way. Yes, you’re accomplished and should be respected… but so should every human being. Being a movie star doesn’t (or rather, shouldn’t) give you immediate access to special treatment everywhere you go and in everything you do. Your reward is making millions of dollars a year and not having to slog your guts out in a 9 to 5 like most of the world. Having the red carpet rolled out for you on the daily is just not part of that.

I don’t have an issue with Taraji – and in fact I’m not all that familiar with much of the work she’s done – but either she’s been misrepresented in print, or she really is snotty and entitled, in which case, no thanks, girl.

  • Acually, I completely agree with her, and I don’t think she sounds entitled at all. I think her comment is directed at the fact that a woman like Blake Lively can cover magazines with very little work to promote. She did Gossip Girl and is now in a relationship with hot famous guy, and that’s all it takes to make Blake Lively. But you haven’t even heard of Taraji, and you’re a celebrity gossip writer. She has double the portfolio of Blake Lively, but she could make triple the amount of movies Blake has made. She could start her own lifestyle blog and get designer shoes named after her too, but I don’t foresee her covering Vogue over it. She is a woman of color, and that means A-list princesshood is not going to be readily available to her whether she’s pretty or not, whether she’s talented or not, whether she’s been in a big show or not. This is a race issue.

    • Uh, I never said I hadn’t heard of Taraji – I don’t live under a rock. What I said is that I’m not all that familiar with her work – as in, I haven’t seen a lot of the films she’s starred in.

      • You defend black people simply because they’re black. Doesn’t matter what they’ve done or what they’ve said, you automatically chalk it up to being a “race issue.” I mean, how many times have you spoken in defense of Chris Brown? Why would ANYONE do that? He’s not a victim of racism, he’s a victim of his own damn ego. And this bitch is, too. How can you even type with such a huge chip on your shoulder?

      • i don’t defend chris brown …i say something about the way the story is reported …..once again(sigh) …you do not see such criticism against ozzy, charlie sheen (he shot one wife and held a knife to the throat of another) in articles written about these people on this very site . its one sided and blatant. did you notice that you called this lady a bitch for speaking out against a perceived wrong? If you was around her, you can give her the much needed back hand she needs for speaking out . How are you any better than chris brown ? you not . as for the charge i defend black people because they are black…well i would not have to defend if there was no persecution. you can act like you don’t see it .. but ignoring a problem… its not going to end well for anyone . Why do you defend white people so much ..better question why do you defend white privilege so much…..

    • Ur an idiot. Taraji was great in Persons of Interest it pissed me off when they killed her. I was/am reallt hoping she was going to be doing a new show this season.

  • WAAH, WAAAH, WAAH. Racism? Please – I hope she was joking about the whole “going to the head of the line” nonsense, because if not, she’s just another self-entitled twat.

  • It hasn’t been easy for her simply because she’s not that pretty or smart. She sounds difficult and bitter. Go figure
