Apparently Gwyneth Paltrow’s a Racist Now, is Tweeting the N-Word

Gwyneth Paltrow on WhoSay

That photo up there is from Gwyneth’s Twitter account, and the photo was captioned with the following:

Ni**as in Paris for real

And people are FREAKING THE F-CK OUT. All sorts of media outlets are reporting Gwyneth as racist, and claim that she’s spreading hate messages all over the internets. And it’s seriously one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard in my lifetime. Gwyneth Paltrow, racist? Please. Racism is so not cool, so there’s no way she’d be a part of it, even if she really *did* have racial sentiments. Second, Gwyneth Paltrow is known to be close friends with Jay-Z and Beyonce, and has professed her love for rap in the past. That kind of behavior definitely doesn’t trigger a “RACIST!” response within me, sorry. Last? It’s the damn title of the song. And she was IN PARIS. How quickly people turn their selective memories off and on.

I’m not Team Gwyneth in, like, practically anything, but come on. Even I have to defend her from this kind of garbage. Jeez.

  • definitely agree with gwyneth on this one. people getting all worked up just to get worked up.

  • It’s stupid of her to use it in the first place. She’s obviously trying to get some street cred and for someone who’s always trying to “make fun” of how people say she begs for attention…she sure is begging for attention.

    • She doesn’t need street cred… She’s best friends with beyonce and jay z for fucks sake.

  • First, the performance was part of Jay Z & Kanye’s Watch the Throne” event, the name of the song is “N—as in Paris”, so its not as if she just ran up on stage and shouted that out on her own.

I dont hate her, in fact i have no opinion of her really, however there is a situation here thats problematic: when “minorities” say the word (which noone should be saying it at this point) it is completely different than when a white personn does. Im not saying thats right or wrong, but it is what it is people. She knows better, just a dumb move on her part.

I find it kinda funny, same as when Tom Cruise would try to dance to hip hop music when he was hanging with Jamie Fox. Now THAT shit will make you cringe! Lolol

    • Of course it’s different when a minority says it, Jesus Christ. Listen, it’s simple — you can criticise your mum, you can say she’s an arsehole, but if someone else says it you’ll hit them, because nobody can talk shit about your mum but you. Get it now? Also, it’s a way of reclaiming the word. “Nigger”, or “paki”, or whatever, have been used as the worst kind of slur for years, and now they are reclaiming it. But when a white person does it, it’s offensive, because for years white people have been using it as offensively, and it’s still being used.

  • Well you can be friends, or even bed, a person from another race and still be a racist. But anyway, the point is, it’s a fucking song. They have been playing in Paris for the past three days. Jesus, way to miss the point. There is a lot of racism out there but this is most definitely not something racist.

  • As a black person I hate the n-word, and I hate that black ppl use it so casually. How about no one say it? I agree with everyone in that it’s the title of the song, and no she’s not racist.

Also, people need to realize that the new generation of kids may not know what the word means. They’ll hear it in songs and say it bc they heard it, and not realize why people will get mad them. (Yeah, it’s up to the parents to explain it, I guess, but that’ll only make sense if they ask or hear them say it)

Personally, I want the damn word to DIE already.

  • If she’s a racist, then so are all of those celebrities who have also used this work in a public forum, including Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Tucker. I am definitely no fan of GOOP, as I think she can be pretty much a pretentious idiot on many occasions, including this one, but I really sort o’ doubt any racial hostility was intended on her part here. People really need to get over themselves about crap like this.

  • I agree with KS. Regarding this matter, I think the artist(s) using this term in lyrics are the “villains” in the matter. The term is hurtful and has all sorts of ugly connotations. There is no way it can be made right. I believe Gwyn Patrow does not know the historical meaning of this word; she was trying to be “cool”; however, this was sooooo unpcool. Just because JayZ or Kanye West uses the word in their lyrics does not make it right; it is offensive. These artists do not represent the “whole” of the African American community. It is really sad that “artists” continue to try to devalue the word and make it right; it is wrong. Please believe me, this term is not acceptable in the African American community. It should be “banned”. I wish some of the “leaders” in the community would comment on this.
