Report: Whitney’s “Official” Cause of Death Might Be Pills and Alcohol

From TMZ:

Whitney Houston’s family was told by L.A. County Coroner officials … the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol … this according to family sources.

We’re told Coroner’s officials informed the family there was not enough water in Whitney’s lungs to lead to the conclusion that she drowned.

Our sources say the family was told Whitney may well have died before her head became submerged.

And family sources tell us … it was actually Whitney’s aunt, Mary Jones, who discovered Whitney’s body in the bathtub. Mary had laid out Whitney’s dress for the evening on the bed and then left for about a half hour. When Whitney didn’t come out of the bathroom, Mary entered, pulled Whitney out of the tub and began administering CPR.

And we’re told … Whitney’s mom has arranged to have the singer’s body flown back to Atlanta, as early as tomorrow. The family was told the Coroner has no problem releasing the body because there is no evidence of foul play — and unless cops put a hold on the body, it can be flown back East.

Ugh. When Emily said that things just keep getting worse and worse, she definitely hit the nail on the head.

You know, I don’t mean to open up a giant can of worms or anything, but Whitney aside, doctors are so f-cking quick to write out a prescription these days that it’s not even funny. No, it’s NOT even funny. People pass out these g-ddamn pills like they’re candy or rewards for a long, hard day, and you know what? It’s not OK and it makes me angry. Some of the pills found at the scene included Xanax, Ibuprofen, Midol, and Amoxicillin, but there were apparently quite a few more present in the hotel room.

Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, had a similar incident happen to her just the day before her mother died. She fell asleep in the tub, and according to sources, it was a close call. Also, Bobbi’s been hospitalized twice, now, since finding out about the death of her mom. One of these hospitalizations was a result of pills. And alcohol. From Radar Online:

“She tried to ease the pain of losing her mother by having a few alcoholic drinks,” the insider said.

“She was distraught, on the verge of a complete breakdown. Not knowing what to do, members of her mother’s entourage tried to calm her down with a sedative. The two were an unfortunate mix and she ended up passing out.”

Angry. ANGRY. And then you look at poor drug-addled Bobby Brown, who probably doesn’t even know which end is up right now, and you can’t tell me that he’s not the next one to be hospitalized for something:

This was Bobby’s arrival at LAX upon hearing the news of Whitney’s death. The poor bastard looks like he’s been crying for forty-eight hours straight, and no, there’s no reason for a joke about “probably the drugs” to be inserted here. This sucks, guys, and while it’s sad for Whitney and her family, the reality of it is that this kind of shit happens every f-cking day, day in and day out, to nameless, faceless people who don’t even generate a blip on the public radar unless you knew them personally.

I know there’s a lot of people out there who’ll say “Well DUH, what did you expect, a ‘former’ drug addict died from pills,” but making a statement like that is like putting band-aid on a busted artery. It’s no solution to an ever-present (and ever-growing) problem.

  • I can’t believe they gave her pills knowing her past with addiction. Her entourage should have known better. Her poor daughter. Also, fuck Bobby Brown, he’s not better than Chris Brown. They both hit their partners.

  • Really ? someone thought it was a good idea to give this kid a couple of drinks and some pills ? How about someone just stepping up to the plate and acting like an adult with a shoulder for her to lean on.
As for Bobby Brown no sympathy.

  • People need to take responsibility for what they are on, how much they are drinking, seeing a therapist when things get bad instead of self-medicating. We are not completely powerless beings. It is sad but we can’t keep blaming these high-profile deaths on doctors. It communicates to people that they can still behave like toddlers when they are grown-ups.

  • I think we focus too much on the pills and forget that people don’t drink responsibly. They don’t hold themselves accountable when they drink. Xanax says not to drink with it right on the bottle. Anti-depressants serve a good purpose and actually help…unless one is counteracting them frequently WITH a depressant–alcohol.

  • People like this make it nearly impossible for those with legitimate need for prescription medications to get them. My stepfather was in horrendous chronic pain from MS and he was barely prescribed anything because the doctors were terrified of the DEA harassing them, all thanks to lowlifes like this. I don’t care what anyone chooses to do with their life, but when your actions prevent others from getting desperately needed pain relief, there’s a problem. So what we’re going to get here is more unnecessary hand-wringing, OUTRAGED(!) comments and people blaming everyone BUT the person responsible….Whitney herself.

I am sorry she is dead, and I do understand the struggles of addiction but to punish the vast majority of responsible people because a tiny portion of people cannot handle themselves is cruel, inhumane and just downright evil. 15,000 people die of prescription drug overdoses in the US every year. Yes, it is sad but this is in a country of 300+ million. All this will be is another excuse to curtail people’s freedoms, and the freedom to be pain free should be a human right and it is a travesty for the government or anyone to get involved and prevent people from receiving the medication they need. Honestly, I cannot understand the mindset of people who actually WANT the government to regulate every aspect of people’s lives. Do you think that if there was MORE govt regulation that this wouldn’t happen? Is it worth giving up freedom to “protect” people from themselves? When are we going to accept the fact that we cannot, and should not try, to save everyone, especially when it means punishing innocent people?

    • It has nothing to do with the race of those involved. It has to do with their past history of addiction. If Lindsay Lohan were to have overdosed on prescription pills, everyone would be saying the same things.

    • This is not a race issue Mr. flay, it is an addiction issue that is on the backs of all races. trust me black people do not have the corner market on drug addiction. the issues is changing habits and recognizing what situations trigger drug abuse. what to do wth those triggers and what to replace that habit with Whitney houston had the means to get clean and the mental ability to see what changes needed. It is not her ex husbands fault it is her own choices that led her to this end. So we feel bad for lost talent and for lost hope for a better tomorrow for Whitney. But now her daughter is on the same path. her family needs to get her help and put her in contact with good people that live normal lives. Stay off the road that leads to drugs. Make healthy choices and life long decisions. all addicts have a choice, do i live or do i sucumb to the devil of meth, coke, heroin, what do i need to be healthy and happy. take the humble way of Jesus. People tend to die how they live.

  • it look like all the stars are falling because the doctors just get them all hooked on
    what they call medicine…… right

    • I think everyone that mentions that illuminati shit is evil themselves I really hope your a kid who in their right mind really believes that shit and these people have been in the buisness for decades how come no one mentioned it then….let me answer that …its made up lmao

  • Illuminati lol that bs is so stupid I cant wait til that’s over and done with they are regular people with regular lives some idiot decided to make that shit up its no where in the bible so it can’t be true anyways people need to let that women rest in peace people choose their own paths rather right or wrong she was sad inside God bless her soul….ps illuminati you sacrifice someone close to you not yourself idiot lol at least that’s what I was told about the bs

  • When you have a drug problem when in your 20’s or 30’s might just be a coping problem or just trying to get off them, but if your doing the prescription drugs or illegal drugs in your 40’s or more real simple you want to get high!!!! you know where it leads and what comes with it and the risk so be safe!!! and make better decisions would be my advice!!! to the point sorry

    • Your right about that “for real guy” but you wernt in her life who knows what that lady may have been going through being rich doesnt make u happy who knows she could have been drunk first and didn’t realize what she did otherwise it would have happened a long time ago don’t u think?
