“Lashing out was my cry for help. Wow, who was I to do that? I’m very ashamed. I wasn’t in the right state of mind at all. [I] basically had a nervous breakdown. I was really bad off. My parents and my manager pulled me aside and said, ‘You need to get some help.’ It was an intervention. I wanted freedom from the inner demons. I wanted to start my life over.”

Demi Lovato, to Seventeen magazine, where she’s now a contributing editor.

The more I hear from this girl, the more I like and admire her. And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that I’m a creepy closet-fan of the Camp Rock movies (OK, it does, but just a little bit). In all seriousness, though, when I first heard of all the crazy Demi Lovato stuff going down, I was horrified for her, thinking ‘Shit, this is such bad crap for someone so young to be going through.’ And the thing is, it’s not just her – others have gone through it, too, but unfortunately haven’t been helped enough – or helped themselves enough – to be able to overcome it in the end. I give Demi mad props for going through what she has, and the fearless and awesome way that she’s come through it all in all. This chick is definitely bad-ass in my book, and I think she’s an example for all those going through a rough time to look up to.
