You know, I had a talk with a good friend a few months back and somehow we got on the topic of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s marriage. This is when I had my Great Divorce Epiphany about these two, and months later, it became a reality. However, in our conversations, we speculated as to why the bottom would be falling out, and I claimed that it was because of Pete’s crazy, manic behaviors that were rather immature for someone of his age and circumstance – yet my friend claimed that it was because of Ashlee’s penchant for alcoholic beverages and her depressed dissociation from her family.
Turns out? SHE WAS RIGHT.
US Weekly reports that Ashlee is actually the one to blame for the divorce, and it’s all because she can’t control herself, her liquor intake, or the cheesy-assed crowd that she hangs out with ’til all hours of the morning, leaving Pete at home with baby Bronx:
Simpson, 26, had coped in part with the impending split by having some late, late-night fun. “Ashlee has been out late partying for the past few months,” says one insider.
Specifically, the singer-actress — and mom to son Bronx, 2 — hangs with a crew of pro skateboarders in San Clemente, Calif., and returns home at sunrise.
“She would lose track of time,” the insider says. A source says a part-time nanny helps look after Bronx, and in her divorce filing, Ashlee asked for physical custody of Bronx and child support.
A Simpson source says the skateboarder thing is all innocent, however. The skaters are from Joe Simpson’s new show, The X-Life. “She went to the wrap party for the shoot, and Pete deejayed. They went and came back together.
Fall Out Boy rocker Wentz, 31, “started getting burnt out” by those antics, another source says. On the road with his band, he “would constantly check in on Ashlee, and he’d have his friends call the house and her cell to make sure she said she was where she said she was going to be,” an insider explains. “He felt like he couldn’t trust her.”
Even when Wentz was at home, Simpson didn’t put on the brakes. At a December 14 dinner party at the LA restaurant Eveleigh, Ashlee, “had a good amount of Belevedere cocktails… she wasn’t being loud, but you could tell she was drunk.” Wentz left a full hour and a half before his wife, who chainsmoked outside with Nicki Hilton.
Wow. So there you have it. I could totally see it, and moreover, I believe it. I think that Ashlee got knocked up, decided to rush into marriage, along with Pete, because they thought that it was The Thing That Needed to Be Done, and then? They, sadly, watched it all crumble before their eyes.
Who’s to blame for the divorce?
So we have options for Ashlee, Pete, or neither, but where’s the option for both? It’s rare for any divorce to have one spouse who is 100% to blame. And if you were to ask that spouse, they’d deny being solely responsible.
AND AGAIN I SAY…MAYBE SHE’S JUST TRYING TO COME TO GRIPS WITH THE FACT THAT HE’S GAY.
