Whitney Houston kicked off her tour last night in Brisbane, Australia and oh man, she sucked. At least that’s the general consensus from concert goers and those who have caught bootleg videos on YouTube. Whitney, who is shockingly only 46 years old (two years younger than my mother!), got breathy and exhausted about two songs in and then coughed throughout most of the show.

However, her promoter, Andrew McManus, thinks that if you have a problem with Whitney’s stage behavior, that’s your own freakin’ problem. From Yahoo!:

“As for some of the negative ‘vocal minority’ … all I can say is, what happened to the Australian positive support of someone who has seen difficult times, and is now up on stage, warts and all, presenting herself like an open book for the world to see,” he said.

“And they want to ridicule Whitney?”

He said people who expected to hear Houston of 20 years ago, should go buy a CD.

“But if they wanted to see a true professional artist give 100 per cent and have a red hot go at songs that make the greatest vocalists shrink, well come along and enjoy the ride of an amazing talent,” he said.

Andrew’s logic isn’t entirely off, but I can’t say I agree with it. There’s nothing sadder than seeing your old favorites refuse to throw in the towel well after their talent has dried up. Perhaps the fans were asking too much of the former crackhead by expecting a great show in exchange for the boatload of cash they had to throw down in order to be there.

I would be SO angry if i paid to see that! She’s meant to be a professional whether she’s had personal troubles or not, if she can’t handle it – dont do it! Those poor people that went to see it – should see 30 Seconds To Mars’ new tour! (ITS AMAZING) Jared Leto ran through the audience singing The Kill – it was BRILLIANT!!!!! :)

Well, Andrew. Perhaps to balance the scale out, maybe Whitney and you should charged for the concert tickets what they cost 20 years ago.

You know, douche, I look at all of the posts that you submit on here and only one thing comes to mind: You must have, without a doubt, THE most unfulfilled, empty, piece-of-shit life of any human being who is able to walk upright. One can only imagine what your pathetic, vacant, and idiotic daily routine consists of. Here’s my guess: 1) Wake up. 2) Eat your Coco Puffs with half & half 3) Turn on “Regis and Kelly Live”. 4) Go on the computer to EvilBeet and look for as many posters to bash and insult as you possibly can by 12 noon. 4) Turn on “Maury”, which for you is a grand opportunity to scream at the TV to today’s baby-daddy and the fat cow he chose to spontaneously copulate with (or not), and then memorize all of the words to the Geico and Devry University commercials that are shown during the breaks. 5) Go back to the computer to EvilBeet to see what reactions you can get because no one else in this world pays attention to you otherwise. 6) Well…do I need to go on? You get the idea. It’s a tough job, but some sorry ass has to do it, and no one is better fit for the job than yourself.

Well, seems like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

i think evilbeetdouche might actually work for sasha..he/she is the pot stirrer that gets all the comments going and is on here all freakin day like it is he/she’s job.

I agree. He’s got to be in her pants.

  3. momster says:

OMG – that was so sad. What a voice she had, and then lost. What an incredible waste of the gift she had. damn. Plus her personality is almost unwatchable to me now – she is SO affected. sad sad sad

  4. Duchess says:

I cant imagine having paid money to watch her stand around and drink water.

  5. Pikki Nikki says:

can’t say it enough – SAD! she’s declining WAAAAAY too quickly…i mean look at bono, roger daltry, bruce springsteen, aretha franklin, prince, the list goes on & on – all kinds of “older” talents who are still kicking ass & taking names despite the fact that their voice may change with age, and for that man to make so many excuses for whitney, he is just a straight up ENABLER. not good.

    • evilbeetdouche says:

Really, have you seen Aretha Franklin lately? You have to take two photos to get all of her fat ass in one image.

Prince sounds like a cat in a blender.

Springsteen – a cat in a blender with a stuffy nose.

Daltry – 40 years of two packs a day

Bono – never had anything to begin with. If you bought his music, just put a gun in your mouth.

      • Pikki Nikki says:

haaaaa! but srriousleh, NONE of them sound as shitty as this crackhead. everyone’s talent diminishes with age but not this rapidly. whitney’s back on SOMEthin’!….

      • evilbeetdouche says:

Word. That Bobby Brown ruined that girl.

At least they are out performing (Springsteen has one of the best live shows out there). They don’t sit at their computer and try to come up with witty insults.

Maybe you should GO to a concert or something. That poor couch you must sit on all day probably needs a break.

      • Monica says:

        ha! good one

  6. Bailey0404 says:

OMG people.. Give her a break… It’s obvious she had a cold.. Hello, didn’t you see her blowing her nose when she went to go get a drink of water… Her head is obviously congested. I do agree though that the stage performance was a little strange though.. But hey it’s Whitney and I would still love to see her in person..

  7. Bobby says:

i thought it was beautiful…annoying but beautiful

  8. Anonymous says:

Billie Holliday sounded pretty rough toward the end of her life, but I still love her music. I wish Whitney would just embrace the crack lifestyle and go out in flames.

  9. luvvb says:

never really was a fan of the” stand in 1 spot & SING” SINGERS….zzzzzzz..boring.well except maybe streisand..give me a backing vocal track with all the LIP-SYNCING and choreography that the actual
artist can handle…more so now after hearing that 53 seconds…couldn’t stand any more than that.

  10. Anonymous says:

I’m in Brisbane and it was so bad, they forced all press out very soon into the concert. I don’t blame people for leaving. It’s obvious she’s drugged out.

    • rose says:

wtf? why does it mean she was drugged out? all it shows is what drugs can do to your voice in the long run.

      • JustMe says:

you obviously didn’t attend that concert. that was only a 5 min clip of her singing. the rest of the night consisted of her standing around talking nonsense, forgetting lyrics to her own songs, acting like a total fool. real unprofessional.

  11. Lisa says:

    That was sad.

My very first concert was Whitney Houston in 1987– I was 11. She was at the pinnacle of her career and gave an amazing performance. What a complete difference. Although, to be fair, she still can sing a million times better than me!

  12. Eggle says:

I think the people that are saying her show was terrible are a bunch of whiners. Anyone going to a Whitney Houston concert should expect that her voice isn’t like it used to be. They bought tickets knowing she wouldn’t be amazing so they don’t have the right to complain about it later.

  13. jo says:

never do drugs kids. even if she’s clean now… poor thing. :(
