I know there are more than a few of you who’ve wished someone would smack the crap out of Tila Tequila. But I doubt any of you meant it literally.
The actress singer umm.. American citizen (it seems harsh to call her an internet fame whore when you’re writing about domestic violence) was hospitalized Sunday after an altercation with her boyfriend, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman.
The two had been hanging out at a club all night for a friend’s birthday party and seemed in good spirits. But something went sour after they went home.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department received a disturbance call from Tila “Tequila” Nguyen at 3:45 a.m. She told deputies she had been choked by Merriman and, when she tried to leave, he physically restrained her, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Nguyen, 27, signed a citizen’s arrest warrant accusing the NFL linebacker of battery and false imprisonment.
Merriman is currently being held at the San Diego County jail. Tila’s rep declined to comment on her current condition.
This is really sad…
Well, I for one hope she handles this better than Rihanna and puts her famewhoring to good use and sends out the message that domestic violence is so not on and yes, that bastard will do jail time or so help me God, prepare for another series of my reality tv show where I will capitalise on the abuse and shove it down your throats until you get sick of it.
I still feel kind of weird about how I’m hoping Tila Tequila will set a better example for women than Rihanna.
first of all, you don’t know the details of tila’s situation, it can be completely different than rihanna’s.
second, why are you criticizing rihanna? she handled the situation by doing what was best for her. she wanted privacy and peace.. not everyone wants to openly talk about being in an abusive relationship. leave her alone…it’s bad enough being in that type of situation without people criticizing you.
what did you expect her to do?
It’s personal opinion, really. I understand the need for privacy and what-not but the whole Rihanna situation never sat well with me.
And no, I don’t know the whole story to this, I’m only responding to this specific post on the subject. I don’t care if it really happened as she says or not. But if it did, well, my comment’s up there.

When I left my ex for beating the sh*t out of me, I was ashamed to tell anyone. I know you said you understand the privacy issue, but really? Living that nightmare is enough for a lifetime; try living it out in front of the world, with the person who did that to you focusing on his image, rather than trying to make amends for what he did. And not only do people know your business, they’re COMMENTING on it.
The girl needed to get away from the spotlight. That’s not for anyone to comment on.
Well but maybe she could have avoided, you know, being photographed with him after the attack and stuff.
bad example = getting back with chris. or rumoring to get back with him. trying to drop the restraining order.
not anything else. it was a bad situation and she had to do what she had to do. she just should have been a role model and stayed away from him. it teaches girls and women that you can forgive someone like that and give them another chance. people die that way.

I understand what you are saying. I also don’t think it was wise for her to drop the restraining and/or charges. but, honestly, i’m not sure if she really dropped them or if it’s all a rumor. and, maybe she did that because her lawyers/council told her to. understanding the aftermath of the situation is a little murky because the public doesn’t know entirely what’s going on. also, with the whole trying to get back together thing — i think that was just a rumor.
all in all, i don’t think it’s her responsibility to be a role model for abused women. if she wants to speak for abused women, i would totally support her, but she should only do it if she wants to. also, maybe she wants to move on and not just be seen as an abused women, but rather a singer, dancer, and business woman.
Whatever. She shouldn’t be even in the same room with him alone. I realize a lot of abused women have trouble breaking away from someone they loved at one point, but she was even trying to get the court order appealed about him keeping distance from her. “I beat you ’cause I love you!”
You need to give it plenty of time before criticizing her. Let the lawsuits, etc. die down. Let her see him paying the legal price for his actions. She needs to step back and get some perspective on it, and then maybe she will change her ways, and be more open about it. I’m sure she’s been in too much turmoil up to this point to really know what to do or say to make the best of it for ‘other people’ who are expecting something of her. Leave her alone and let her do things on her own time.
Just because she said something happened doesn’t necessarily mean it did (it was a citizen’s arrest). I’ve read reports that she was really drunk and he just tried to keep her from leaving the house so she wouldn’t drive. We don’t know much yet, so let’s not jump to conclusions.
I heard that too and I’m going to believe Merriman over her. If it comes back that he was the dirty scuzzbag lying and not her, then I will apologize.
