After a 29-Year Courtship, Ryan O’Neal And Farrah Fawcett To Wed

If you’ve been proposing to your girlfriend for almost 30 years, and she’s only now agreed to it because she’s hooked up to a morphine drip, that could be considered somewhat ego-bruising.  Not to Ryan O’Neal, though.

Yeah — Ryan and Farrah Fawcett are getting married.  I thought these two married and divorced years ago, but apparently not.  O’Neal  was interviewed by Barbara Walters in a 20/20 episode that will air this Friday, and spoke of his proposal to Farrah:  “I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed.  I used to ask her to marry me all the time.  But … it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it.”

It’s actually really sad.  Now that Farrah is battling terminal cancer, they probably have a whole new perspective on life.  Back in May, Ryan appeared on NBC News and told Meredith Viera, “I know this, that in the last two years I loved her more than I’ve ever loved her – ever.  She’s so much more of a woman … powerful, courageous, fearless and all those adjectives. And I look at her with awe.”

No date has been set at this time.  Ryan said they will marry when Farrah is physically able to either say the word “yes,” or nod her head.

    • she was being serious.. i hate to quote perez hilton..but here goes
“I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed,” said O’Neal of the ailing Charlie’s Angels star. “As soon as she can, say yes. … Maybe we can just nod her head.”

  • Since when did watching someone die a horrible death of terminal cancer become a subject to make bad jokes about? Karma is a bitch, Wendie. Keep that in mind.

    • if you’re referring to the last sentence, i don’t think she was joking.
i honestly think farrah doesn’t have the strength to say anything or nod,
so they will wait til she has enough energy to agree to marry.

      • Yeah, that’s what I thought too.

Perhaps Farrah never said yes before because she figured their marriage would end in divorce; sadly, now she doesn’t have to worry about that.

      • I stand corrected. Maybe I am just overly sensitive since my mother was in a similar condition for awhile prior to her death from cancer at age 53, when she went out weighing 65 lbs. Scuse me.

  • My stepmother, one of the nice type that is rarely featured in children’s stories married my father a few short weeks before she died of cancer.

During the time they were together neither wanted to get married as they were both divorcées who felt that it did not matter if they were married or not, as just being together and finding happiness was enough.

But when one person is on their deathbed they do tend to look back on things with a wistful eye and attitudes change. You want something solid, a ring, a document, something more than just a feeling.

I suspect the same is true for Farrah and Ryan ….. though it must be said that their relationship was somewhat more tumultuous than the one mentioned above.

  • They both look deformed.
Maybe I’m cynical, but all I see this to be is Ryan’s last grab for rights to cash in before & after she dies. He’s a slime.

  • Please PLEASE can they not film it and show it on TV? Not that I would watch it but I just hope they can find a scrap a dignity and keep it private.

  • Again! Nutcase Ryan is picking her pockets and lining his before the body is cold. Brrr! Creepy jerk!

  • Is it me or does Ryan seems to be a publicity whore? He’s doing all the talking for her-I wish one of her friends would come out and confirm the story if it’s indeed true…

  • @chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.

  • I am constantly searching for somebody to alternative articles and reviews with, I’m a university student and also have a blog here on our university website. The topic of this web log and writting design and style would likely go great in some of my category’s, tell me if you’re up for this.

  • My brother and I have been just discussing this very topic, he is invariably trying to prove me incorrect. Your own view on this is wonderful and exactly how I feel. I recently e mailed my brother this site to demonstrate him your own view. Immediately after overlooking your web site I book marked and will be coming back to read your posts!
