Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Alicia Silverstone Wishes to Challenge Me for the Title of Queen Vegan

Listen up, people. I’ve been a vegan for an entire week and a half now. Anybody who’s known me for any length of time will tell you that, after I’ve done something for more than two or three days, I am the undisputed authority in that activity. Which is why I think it’s rather odd that Alicia Silverstone has decided to write a book on veganism when, clearly, if anyone should be writing such a book, it is I.

Rodale Inc. has just proudly announced plans to publish The Kind Diet, due out in fall 2009 by the actress and animal rights advocate. The book explores the connection between what we put in our bodies and what we’re doing to the planet, and how choosing the right foods in the kitchen can help you feeling lighter, sexier, and more alive. The book will include a 3-step diet program and 75 vegan and macrobiotic recipes.

Oh, silly Alicia. I am the one who has been trusted with the position of informing the masses about veganism. Don’t come trotting out here like you’re suddenly relevant and try to usurp my position. I’m not the one who thought Excess Baggage needed to be produced. That’s your baggage, sweetheart. Now run along and make another doomed pilot for FOX and leave the writing to the pros, mmkay?

  • She needs a vitamin, she’s a tad on the pekid side, if you ask me, I have been vegetarian for 29 of my 36 years with fleeting attempts at a vegan lifestyle, this girl is PALE, missing some B12, my guess.

  • are y’all kidding? i dare anyone of you to go out in that outfit without a stich of makeup on and look that good. i think she looks naturally beautiful.

  • being a vegan may make you FEEL sexier, but i’m sorry no one LOOKS sexy in smock like that…blah. btw she looks pale bc she’s white. i’m just saying.

  • I seem to remember something a long time ago, possibly on MTV, about her eating baby food to stay thin. She was the one who was telling them, so maybe that’s her secret, Beet. You should phone Gerber and tell them you could be the new spokesbeet.

  • just to let you know Alicia is vegan for ever!!!
you just read skinny bitch 2 weeks ago, lets see if your new habit will least more than 1 year.
    i.bet.will.not!

  • what makes you think she’s not wearing make-up madea? I’ve seen non-make-up pics of her before and she didn’t look as goodl.

I’m not trying to be a bitch (really). I actually love her, for the simple fact that Clueless was the shit back in they day. She will always have a place in my heart.

oh yeah, and I don’t think she’s pale because she is vegan. She has always had really light skin. This just means that she actually TAKES CARE OF HER SKIN, like no sun damage, and doesn’t like being spray tanned orange. good for her.

  • OMG Clarissa, do you understand sarcasm at all? That was the point of the post… Beet being all, I’m the authority on being vegan, after a week… not Alicia, who has been loudly vegan for a decade

    It’s a joke. Jesus.

  • I kind of like how she looks… >.<

I also think she might be wearing subtle make-up, but that’s just my opinion.

  • Aww… I liked Excess Baggage. But then again, I was young(er) and fairly stupid at the time, haven’t seen it since common sense came back in style. I might have to pull that out tonight.

  • I’m so glad she’s not stick thin. Skinny-ass vegans make me sick. I think that for some people, veganism can be a sort of eating disorder. I’m glad that Alicia is healthy about it.

  • Sorry, you’ll have to sell the evils of red meat to somebody else. My dad’s 85 y.o. and hasn’t missed day of either eating red meat or chicken in about 50 years, and he’s in pretty good health for his age. It’s all about not over indulging as opposed to completely abstaining from it. The human race by it’s very nature is omnivorous and I think the last 2 – 3 millions has shown that.

  • and dumb ass hillbilly who said her father is 80 eating meat everyday… in many cases, heavy meat eaters are prone to develop cancer, among other medical problems or diseases. did you ever think there is the humane reason for not eating carcasses and making yourself a human graveyard? Oh, and btw, humans are not by nature omnivorous.

  • …..you are all dumbasses….typical Americans….giving a shit what wealthy stars do, no wonder our society is so stupid and living in a fantasy world……..I feel bad for our youth…I’m totally going to be a super model and get famous so you all will gossip about me!!…FTL!
