Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Okay, So What Were These Medical Reasons?

If you’re awake, you probably already know that Paris Hilton was released from jail early this morning due to “medical reasons.” (You can read the press release from the LA Sheriff’s Dept here.)

Lars speculates that the “medical reasons” are because she wasn’t eating, which sounds like as good a guess as any.

However, publicist Jonathan Jaxson claims to have the real story straight from the Hilton family:

Paris was apparently suffering from severe panic attacks and depression, where she even became suicidal. Towards the end of her stay, Paris began, what others call, a nervous breakdown. Her psychiatrist was so concerned for her well being they did everything possible to get her to a place in which was comfortable for her and her health.

This isn’t exactly consistent with TMZ’s story that Paris was beginning to adjust to jail life, but it’s possible her improved attitude was due to her knowledge that she’d be getting out soon.

Regardless, none of these seem like acceptable reasons for her to be let out of jail. Poor baby, she doesn’t like it there. She’s not eating and she’s crying a whole lot. We need to let her out.

Nobody likes jail. That’s why it’s a punishment.

Sigh.

  • I am under no spell that would make me think a short stay in jail would turn PH into a good person, but I seriously am sick of living in a society that feels we need to single out *that* fucking human waste for special treatment.

  • It seems to me that a nervous breakdown would warrant you to a trip to a psych ward. You shouldn’t get freed because you’re sad.. otherwise everyone serving time would be mentally ill. Yet, I’m guessing Paris would fare even worse among true crazies, those without the ability to pull strings.

Also, if she truly is suicidal why is she just being placed under house arrest? Like everything else in Paris’ life, this reeks of a scam. Someone was pressured or the LA Jail system wanted distance from this story… either way, it’s clear that double standards are still alive and well in this country.

  • Lars – exactly! i think there are more shiny kinves to hurt yourself under house arrest than prison/mental ward if you are truely ” suicidal”. now remember paris, its down the street not across the highway!

  • Damn let me stay in the paris mansion for 40 days its paradise.. not punishment. Paris has been reassigned back to her party lifestyle. Most people would be struggling just to get the car out of impound and pay legal fines. And be sitting in jail if u had a rash nervous breakdown or were not eating. She should at least be doing supervised picking up trash adn weedeating on the freeway for 40 days supervised. Its too easy for her little buddies to come and party and bring her things for a fee ofcourse!!

Paris what a loser! you cant even be woman enough to do the time for the little lame crimes you commit.

    whata spoiled jerk you suck

  • I’ll bet she was just bored.

So, why didn’t they let her take all those books in there? I mean, she’s in solitary for 23 hours a day, she doesn’t work (if it can be imagined, she works less in jail than she did out of it) and she’s probably bored of meetings with doctors and her lawyer. I think Boy George’s and Naomi Campbell’s punishments were way better, because at least they did something with their time. Why does she get to stay home in her fancy house when any and all of her friends can visit her (she could probably even have a party there)?

I think they should’ve given her community service along with the house arrest, or given her something to do in jail. No wonder people don’t rehabilitate in jail, 23 hours with nothing to do isn’t going to make you more suitable for society. What a waste.

  • I agree with lolly. Paris was going through a whole host of withdrawls. Hair extension withdrawl, crackberry withdrawl, sex withdrawl, people-who-lie-to-me-and-tell-me-I’m-the-best withdrawl, violating probation withdrawl….

Not to mention cocaine, alcohol and prescription-medication-that-shouldn’t-have-been-prescribed-in-the-first-place withdrawl.

I mean cut the girl some slack. 3 days without a designer label?!?! What is this?! A third world country?

  • this is just proof that money + power = freedom. if she was a normal person like the rest of us, she would not even get special treatment anywhere close to what she’s getting. this spoiled bitch has no talent (except for spreading her legs, that she does well), she’s a flake, and if it weren’t for mommy and daddy, she would be a complete nobody. Paris is a LOSER crying for attention in every form possible. she’s just an heiress trying to “expand” her fame. she deserves to get treated like everyone else, unfortunately it boils down to the politics of the situation…. she has a rich & powerful daddy
