Lindsay Lohan in Interview Magazine

Very cool interview and photo shoot with Puss ‘N’ Boots in Interview magazine this month.

Lindsay has a lot of interesting and intelligent things to say, and this interview reminds me why I love her so much:

I just feel as though it’s become a situation where people have manifested this caricature of who I am, and they act as if there’s no real person inside of it. I mean, people really have come to believe-directors, producers, agents, whoever it may be-that I started in this because I wanted to be a celebrity. But that was never my intention …?I wanted to be a movie star. But movie stars are not what they used to be. When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were women and men who were in these great films that we still look at now. But I don’t think there are too many films coming out these days that we’re going to look at in the future and say, “This is one of the great ones.” Like, what is the great film that I will tell my children about? I’m still going to tell them about the old films, the Hitchcock films. And people my age don’t even know who those people are. I can’t even have a conversation with most people of my generation about that, because they’d be like, “Okay, she’s a freak. Something’s wrong with her.” And the worst part is, in terms of what people see of me, I have become this girl who just loves to be photographed, doesn’t know how to focus, doesn’t know how to work on set, just loves the attention, knows how to go out at night, knows how to party. And you know what? I was 20 years old. I never went to college. And I lived maybe six months out of my life like that, doing something wrong, and then I stopped. God forbid I should have ever learned my lesson. But at this point it’s so hard for people to even believe that there was a lesson to be learned at all, because they just think I’m wrong. All these people think I’m never going to be right, because it’s more interesting to fabricate this other girl. Who wants to read a tabloid story about a girl who is doing well?

When the interviewer suggests she take some time and hide away someplace where no one knows her:

But it’s so impossible for me to actually do that. When I was in Dubai, there was still press lined up around the hotel. So I find it close to impossible to actually do that. I mean, it is what it is. This is what I asked for, and in this day and age that’s what actually goes on. But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don’t get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to last forever.

As the folks at E! point out, Dubai is basically the new Las Vegas, and Lindsay was there for a huge hotel opening — of course there’d be press. And they point out that Scarlett has managed to avoid the paparazzi for the most part, and even kept her wedding a secret. Secretly, as we all know, Lindsay doesn’t want to be out of the spotlight, not even for a little while.

  • Watching that video reminded me that models and ‘celebrities’ have to have such an ego to do photo shoots like that. Those are great photos though.

  • I agree that some of the best films were made before my time, but there are still very memorable and groundbreaking films being made today… bitch just isn’t in them! What does she expect when she makes movies like “Mean Girls” and “Georgia Rule.” That shit isn’t going to make AFI’s 100 greatest films of all time. If she wanted to be a serious actress she would try harder. All she does is interviews about her life (hardly the movies she’s made) and does photo shoots.

I like Lindsay Lohan, I do. She entertains the hell out of me and I think she’s gorgeous, and she will be remembered for a long time! Not as great as Marilyn Monroe, but something along those lines, known more for her looks and personal life. I also think what she says makes her sound like a douchetard.

    • If you forget who Lindsay Lohan was during the time she made ‘Georgia Rule’, you would be able to actually appreciate the film for what it is. It’s really not as bad as people trash it to be.

    • I completely agree about the first part Amanda! Most of the celebs who complain about their lives being in the tabloids so much are the same celebs sitting down doing interviews like this talking about their private life. She is being a huge hypocrite, bitch needs to stay home and read some scripts and get her arse back to work.

  • I get a young Nicole Kidman vibe from theses photos and I’m not sure why. They don’t look anything alike.

  • So, basically she has just fabricated this entire spiel. The tears and self pity that she is constantly spewing are tired. The difference is that other young actress’ don’t sit down to an interview trying to convince people that they are intelligent and talented.
You’ve got to be a moron to think you can go to Dubai (being some sort of celebrity) and “hide”.

Natalie Portman is another young woman you has avoided the paps. There are places to go and things to do in order to avoid the ongoing attention and related criticism.

    • hell yeah! natalie portman is pretty damn amazing and actually can act which can’t be said for lohan

      • word. natalie portman is amazingly talented. i’ve always been impressed by actresses and actors who can manage to be just that–an actress or actor–as their primary professional identity, and not a celebrity. because there’s a difference. i know the two go hand-in-hand, but lindsay’s name calls to mind coke binges, not cinematic masterpieces. she hands her life to the tabloids. natalie portman’s reputation is synonymous with talented acting, not page six write-ups. and lindsay thinks that’s not her own fault? i applaud her personal growth, but it takes more work than just announcing that you’ve changed for people to respect you.

  • I love Lindsay – but that Dubai comment was retarded. Dubai is like the hotspot for the rich and famous. I understand her point, but it would only truly be ‘hard’ because she likes the attention – if she hated it more, she wouldn’t care. She hasn’t reached a boiling point. Right now, she just doesn’t like the captions added to her pictures on tabloids, and is getting pissed that she’s only offered teen flicks or shit where she has to get naked.

  • “I have become this girl who just loves to be photographed, doesn’t know how to focus, doesn’t know how to work on set, just loves the attention, knows how to go out at night, knows how to party. . . And I lived maybe six months out of my life like that”

Hell, as far as I can tell now, she is STILL doing all of this stuff.

  • i think she’s more hot than scarlett johanssen, and more interesting too. she definitely has that addict personality- be it to drugs, booze, sex, attention

  • She’s so incredibly boring and full of herself. I have no idea what people see in her. She may work as hard as a Scarlett Johansson but she’s certainly not as talented or attractive. Neither one of them are interesting though.

  • Sure she’s crazy, but I still love this girl. Have loved her ever since “Parent Trap” — she made some GREAT teen chick flicks. XP

  • i’d just like to ask… what sort of “hard work” is she doing…? cause you know, there are single moms out there working two jobs at minimum wage who make as much in a year as she blows on boots and sunglasses in an afternoon….. just sayin…

  • Sorry honey but I save my pitty for people who are trying to figure out how to get food on their table tonight, not for little girls from Long Island who snorted their way to the bottom. Live and learn Lohan klan.

  • she was born with all the right “pieces/parts” but even though they are attractively arranged, she still remains bland and devoid of “it”.

    she’s just tinsel and glitter.

  • translation: “i act like a big whore everywhere i go…i flash my hot pocket for the paparazzi, i sleep with every thing under the sun, i show up on set late, unprepared, drunk and/or hungover, i post insane ramblings on my blog ….why don’t people take me seriously?”

    • spot on

just remember the *bats eyes* and says, ‘don’t you feel sorry for me?’ to wrap up

and also, don’t you love how the whole thing gives her a perfect and never ending excuse? no matter what she does – the paparazzi and tabloids are in charge of her destiny!

  • Also – here is more from that interview – where Lindsay explains why she into a tree drunk, with coke, and left the scene!

What she doesn’t explain is why there are no paparazzi pictures of the immediate accident or her at the scene. Hmm.

    Read on:

Lindsay Lohan: … You know, my car accident that I got into, where I got my first charge, I wouldn’t have been speeding up like I was if I didn’t have people shoving cameras in my windows.

    Lauren Hutton:?You were running away?

LL:?Yeah, I was. I was running away from the paparazzi.

    LH:?Who wouldn’t be running away? It’s scary.

LL: ?Especially late at night, when you’re trying to turn a corner, and then somebody else is speeding up alongside you. So, you know, it’s okay for someone to chase me and then try to cut me off so I ram my car into a tree . . . I mean, I know this guy was trying to do his job, but his “job” almost landed me half-dead.

  • The term “movie star” alludes to being FAMOUS, being a celebrity.
If she were to say “actress” alone, I might have believed it. I don’t think there are many young actresses out there today who would become part of this industry if it weren’t for the fame and money. SHE created the caricature of herself through her actions and through her own physical recreation of herself. It’s a shame she doesn’t realize this. She has become a person that others don’t take seriously or view as an actual “actress”… they view her as a party girl, so of course they are not going to expect a decent movie coming out if she’s in it!
