Michael Moore Begins Work on Fahrenheit 9/11 Follow-Up

Filmmaker Michael Moore, the mountain of a man behind the provocative 2004 documentary, has begun work on a follow-up film, due to be released in the spring of 2009. Moore made an intentional decision to release the film after the U.S. presidential election, as he claims that he doesn’t want it to be seen as a politically motivated film. Good luck with that, dude.

The film intends “to examine how America’s role in the world has changed over the last eight years,” says the COO of Overture Films, the documentary’s co-financer. Any further details are being kept under tight wraps.

  • You, devilgirl, are either a very young child who does not know better or are completely uninformed. Thank god I am sure you are too young to vote!

  • Speaking of documentaries, Michael Moore Food may want to check out a little diddy by the name of Super Size Me. Just a thought.

  • ^ gabriella don’t bash others for their opinions. Michael Moore is an idiot, whose movies are purely out of spite for America. I’ll tell you America’s role in the world. It’s the freaking United Nations, as it has been for its life as a democratic superpower. America’s intention is to maintain peace in the world, while preventing communist morons from overtaking weak countries like Iraq. Without America in Iraq, Iran will seize control of Iraq and turn it into another train-wreck country with no hope. Michael Moore is just trying to make President Bush out to be an evil dictator, taking advantage of a poor, weak, oil-filled country. His logic is the farthest you can get from the truth. GO AMERICA! GO BUSH! GO EVIL BEET!

  • Well Gabriella, I am so pleased that you know so much about my age and education. Who in the hell do you think you are telling me that I must be a very uninformed child, thankfully unable to vote!? I hate Michael Moore, I have a RIGHT to MY UNINFORMED opinion regardless of what you may think of it. YOU DON’T KNOW ME, BUT I WILL LET YOU IN ON THIS MUCH, I HAVE BEEN OF VOTING AGE FOR MANY YEARS, and my voting practices are none of your bloody uninformed business. I don’t believe that I was attacking you, so why don’t you do the same and keep your posts to the subject and not on the those who have been invited by The Evil Beet to post. I could ponder what type of person you are, and throw out a few insults about your obvious political beliefs and so on, but since I don’t know you I guess I will shut my mouth like you should shut yours when it comes to attacking others who are posting their opinions on these boards. Everyone has a right to their opinions, and I for one do not attack others for theirs, but maybe that is because I am so uninformed.

  • It’s beyond belief that anyone could support Bush and the incredible mess has made of our country. It will take a very long time before we gain any respect from other nations. He should be charged with war crimes along with his cronies. Go Michael Moore! Tell it like it REALLY is!

  • Michael more may be a bit biased, but let’s face it, America isn’t doing so hot. To be honest, we kind of suck in in terms of healthcare, the economy, and general decency towards other people, compared to other countries like England and France.

If there is actually anyone here who doesn’t hate Mr. Moore, then some good movies (technically documentaries, but just as entertaining as a movie and much more informative) would be:

-Sicko (puts our healthcare system in great light)

-The Take (what real democracy is.. and we call this country a democracy, hah)

-The Corporation (excellent documentary, I strongly recommend it, it shows how sick and twisted our country is in the marketing aspect)

Have fun watching your documentaries, kids!!

  • * * * * * * * * * *

    THE CORPORATION!!

    Great documentary guys.

    You have to watch it.

    Seriously.

    Honestly.

Go rent it from Blockbuster or check it out from your library for free or something.

  • Kim and devilgirl, I am sorry if I offended you. Really, that was not my intention and I can see how I did. Please accept my apologies.

My professional life is bound up with the US foreign policy, so I do have strong opinions. And it is worth noting that not even George W. Bush has claimed that ‘communists’ have anything to do with Iraq, or Iran for that matter. Whatever this war is about (and that is up for serious debate) no one would say it was about communism.

The voices of men and women like Michael Moore are essential for a healthy democracy to work. All voices are essential or else what we have here is not a democracy.

  • I’m not saying I necessarily agree with the war in Iraq, but I do respect President Bush’s intentions. I hate Michael Moore movies because of his high dislike for our president and the way he uses the war as a means for bashing Bush. I couldn’t get through the first Fahrenheit 9/11 and I don’t plan on contributing to the profits of the sequel. Anyone who honestly expects to find any useful information in his movies, is clearly in denial. Everyone already knows what to find in the movie… nothing more than ‘bush is bad, iraq is stupid, save america first, and america has problems itself’. In the future everyone will be praising President Bush for his effort in Iraq and for contributing to the removal of Saddam Hussein. Until then, don’t let this man brainwash you into believing that America is turning into an evil civillized country taking advantage of the little ones. If anything America is saving the worlds ass before future attacks, bringing democracy to chaotic regions, and saving for war-torn Iraq.

  • Apology accepted Gabriela. Thank you for being a big enough person to admit that maybe you made comments that were offensive to people you knew nothing about. I agree, all voices and ideas are essential in a democratic society, however I find Michael Moore to be a person who is not a constructive voice within this society.I find his hatred for right wing politicians destructive and incendiary, not helpful.Whatever anyone’s political affiliation, there is a right way and a wrong way in which to express it. As a free society we are all afforded the privilege of voting however we see fit, and should be able to do so without fear of reprisal. I am now off of my soap box!

  • My fault, I didn’t realize that I had gone to The Huffington Post.

No, I kid. A little spirit is generally good for all of us.

For the record, one does not have to be a Bush supporter or particularly conservative to have reservations about Michael Moore’s political displays in his movies.

I find Michael Moore’s movies interesting, even compelling, but I also feel that he has a tendency to tell strong narratives that are conspicuously laden with his set agenda. Sometimes, instead of feeling like I’m experiencing the depiction of an evenhanded analysis, I feel as though I’m watching a show with nuggets that fit the Michael Moore agenda on full display. It is, of course, Michael Moore’s prerogative to make his movies his way, just as it is my prerogative to watch his movies with at least a modicum of skepticism.

  • I don’t mind Michael Moore but I’m not an American. (Not that that has anything to do with it) I find his films interesting ..

  • Michael Moore is a true patriot. Much more so than any warmongering conservative like Kim.

Enjoy what is left of your country while it still exists. Just like the Soviet Union your hatred, corruption, paranoia, and greed will take you down.

  • Devilgirl says Michael Moore sucks AND his movies are stupid. What do you know about Michael Moore other than his movies?

  • Yes, the Conservatives always fall back to the lame insult about his weight because they can’t discredit what he actually has to say. I bet you Conservatives are fatter on average than Liberals.

    >gabriella don’t bash others for their opinions. Michael Moore is an idiot

Oh, so what you really mean is “don’t bash others for their opinions unless you don’t have a good reason to justify your support of being a war monger and hate-filled bigot?”

  • Kim – you almost gave me a heart attack in your first post. Honestly, my heart is RACING! What you say really, really scares me. Michael Moore aside, it seems like all your political ideas came from CNN or something. I don’t even know what else to say…..what’s with the America is the Super Power BS? I think a lot of countries would be happier if y’all just effed off!

  • Well Chris, I think my previous posts will tell you, IT’S MY OPINION AND I AM ENTITLED TO IT! I don’t need to know anything beyond what he and his movies advocate. In the scheme of things, I have other people to worry about and Michael Moore isn’t one of them. I have said my peace and to all of those who think that I have no brains or intelligence because I happen to dislike MM , I guess you are right. HE IS A WONDERFUL MAN WHO MAKES WONDERFUL FILMS AND A TRUE PATRIOT. Sorry I was soooooooooooo wrong, you have all made me see the light.

  • Devil Girl – do you think it’s your opinion on MM that people are upset about, or your politics?

  • I also can’t believe anyone respects what this President and his administration have done to our country and our Constitution, much less to our standing in the rest of the world.

  • If people have a problem with either, that’s pretty lame because I wasn’t aware that in AMERICA, we were all supposed to have the same political, social and religious values. Attacking people for their beliefs is not what this country or any free society is about. Frankly, no one, aside from myself, knows what my politics are. Because I find MM to be a hate monger and an anti American zealot, does not mean that I am a Republican, nor a conservative. What it means, and I certainly think that as I have said a multitude of times, is that I dislike his movies and what he has to say, finding it not to be helpful media, but destructive and disrespectful of the US, a country that affords him the opportunity to spew his brand of hatred. What gets me is people seem to feel that it is their duty to tell Kim and myself how lacking in intelligence we are for not going along with everyone else’s opinions. I haven’t attacked anyone else for THEIR posts or view points, I have defended myself to comments made by people who DO NOT KNOW ME OR WHAT SIDE OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM I am on. I made a post, on a gossip web site about my feelings towards a film maker who I happen to dislike. Not once did I insult anyone other than the person the topic was about. If everyone would feel better that I become a mindless Stepford wife and agree, fine, I AM STUPID, UNINTELLIGENT AND MM ROCKS THE UNIVERSE! Is that good enough for everyone, or can I be derided for MY OPINIONS some more?

  • > Because I find MM to be a hate monger and an anti American zealot, does not mean that I am a Republican, nor a conservative.

Right, lol. How about a neo-con war monger? Is that a better description?

  • Sure Donkey Punch, if that is your assessment of someone YOU DO NOT KNOW, it is a fabulous description, anything else? Keep the attacks coming, just goes to show the type of judgemental hypocrits most people are. Attacking things that they do not know because it makes them feel better about themselves and their inability to break away from a pack and be individuals, and not followers, particularly of some bitter, anti capitalist, anti American movie maker. LMAO Fool!

  • question: is it possible to discuss politics without resorting to namecalling? everyone is entitled to their opinions, so maybe we should all use our inside voices now.

  • Opinions are like assholes….every Conservative is one. Oh, wait, that isn’t how that saying goes.

I don’t see how they can accuse Michael Moore of being anti-American. Have they ACTUALLY watched any of his movies? The conservative party is not America. Corporations are not America. The people make America and it is the American people that Michael Moore defends and loves.

You people just don’t like that he is defending the rights of the poor and middle class.

  • democrats don’t give the lower class any incentive to work or rise up from their social standing. their plan is to make their lives a walk in the park by handing them paychecks in the mail and government aid. republicans are more interested in having people actually WORK for their money and further their capabilities by earning money for actual service to society. if you can’t make money in america then something’s wrong, as it is extremely easy to get a job in this country.

  • > their plan is to make their lives a walk in the park by handing them paychecks in the mail and government aid.

Where on earth would they get the money for that even if they did want to do that? Kim, can you actually think for yourself?

    > republicans are more interested in having people actually WORK for their money

Yes, for $5 an hour so they can be economic slaves for the rich whites. I bet you must miss the old days when Americans kept black slaves don’t you?

    > as it is extremely easy to get a job in this country.

Yes, if you are white. Yes, if you like $5 an hour.

Kim you need to leave your mansion and your pool behind for a week and live in the real world.

  • @ GG:

A patriot loves his/her country, not the specific dickhead who is in office. And thanks to dickhead maximus, George W. Bush, the country is going broke waging an unwinnable war. That’s the idiot you shouldn’t be giving your money to.

  • Devilgirl, I don’t think you have no brains or intelligence because you happen to dislike MM. It’s because you can’t spell ‘piece’.

  • Gee Chris, Thank ewe fore ponting thaat out too me. I gess I shood trie too git an edjukayshion. I am sertin ewer posts are alwaays purfuct. Ewe must be relly smart too huv found my typo. Wiish I wus as smart as ewe!

  • By the way Chris, both usages of piece/peace are correct when it comes to the phrasing of “I have said my piece/peace.” Many have thought that it meant PIECE of mind, while others have thought the meaning to be PEACE, as in peaceful thought to end a confrontation or disagreement. I, of course, have always used it as the latter meaning. Sorry Chris, if that doesn’t jive with your interpretation of the meaning of the phrase “I have said my peace” See if you can do some more nit picking. And since you are soooooooo smart yourself, why not spot the misspelled words in this post since you seem to be the self appointed spell checker and correct phrasing master of this site.

  • By the way, if we want to get technical on grammar and correctness “I DON’T THINK YOU HAVE NO BRAINS…” should be “I don’t think you have any brains”. So before you go and point out someone’s lack of intelligence, please make sure that a) you are certain of the meaning of their post. b) that your post is as perfect as it can be! PIECE OUT! (since you like the spelling so much)
