Celine Dion losing muscle control in battle with illness

Celine Dion’s sister Claudette is sharing an update on Celine’s ongoing battle with a neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome. And the news is sounding grim.

“She’s working hard,” the 75-year-old said of her younger sister, 55. “What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined…She’s always worked hard. Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do it well, you’re going to do it properly.'”

Dion told the world about her condition back in 2022, telling fans she was diagnosed with a “very rare” neurological disorder.

“I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but I’m ready now,” she noted in an Instagram video. “I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through.”

She further shared, “Unfortunately, the spasms affect every aspect of my daily life.”

Dion highlighted that the disorder had caused “difficulties,” including in her walking and singing. “It hurts me to tell you today, this means, that I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February,” she relayed. “I’m working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to build back my strength and my ability to perform again. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle.”

The Grammy winner has leaned on her children—sons René-Charles, 22, and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson—during this trying time.
