I mean when isn’t Lizzo being awesome?
Writer and Poet, Aurielle Marie, was won the Georgia Author of the Year in poetry for her book Gumbo Ya Ya. And this caused Out Magazine to name her one of their Top100 of the year.
Out Magazine is a premiere LGBTQ magazine that annually recognizes those in the LGBTQ community who are making their mark. And with that honor comes a ticket to their annual Gala. This, Aurielle thought, might be a problem.
Big girls, especially those without tons of money, have few options when it comes to gowns and gala attire. So Aurielle did what many would think was silly… she made a tiktok to Lizzo.
“Someone asked me, ‘Well, how do you want to feel?'” the author said. “I want to look and feel like how Lizzo did, walking up to accept her Emmy at the 2022 Emmys in that voluptuous, sexy, amazing masterpiece of a dress.”
“So, I asked!” she said. “I didn’t think she would even see it, let alone see it and care, let alone see it, care and say yes. She did, and I am now — I can confidently say — the most fabulously dressed person at the Out100, thanks to Lizzo.”
But of course Lizzo said yes. She’s Lizzo.
