If you’re like most of the world, you saw and loved the second installment of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and you’re looking forward to the third (and fourth!) film. Well, you’ve got less than a year to wait and now we’ve got a teaser poster to keep us going!
As you can see, the Mockingjay poster reveals… absolutely nothing and is in no way exciting, but it’s the official start of promotion for the film, which is pretty exciting. I know, I know, we’re all getting a little disillusioned with having Jennifer Lawrence shoved down our throats nonstop, but come on – she’s brilliant as Katniss. This is gonna be great!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is finally hitting theatres next month, and it’s about damn time. We’ve had several sneak peeks at what we can expect, but now there’s a FINAL trailer and oh man, it looks great!
Admittedly, the books are way better than the movies could ever be, but it’s still great to watch. Will you go see it next month?

Jennifer Lawrence is awesome and pretty much the world’s best friend, so it might make you mad to know that once upon a time, some Hollywood asshole told her she was too fat and that she needed to drop a few pounds or else risk getting fired from a job. Lovely, eh?
From Harper’s Bazaar:
“I was young. It was just the kind of shit that actresses have to go through.
“Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight.
“They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet.”
“[People think] that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I’m above it all.”
“‘You really still care about that?’ Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt. It doesn’t matter what accolades you get.”I know it’ll never happen to me again. If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet’, I’m like, ‘You can go f**k yourself’.”
Now, Jennifer is gorgeous and IN NO WAY FAT, but of course you can never be thin enough in Hollywood, so this isn’t at all surprising. But seriously, why are people such dickheads? Anyway, I guess she got the last laugh (even though she obviously has lost weight/got super in shape, but that’s sorta by happenstance given her Hunger Games role)… it’s just unfortunate that this body image shit will never change.

I know Coldplay gets a hard time from plenty of people these days, but I love them. I always have (even though I fell off for a few albums), but after hitting up a show on the Mylo Xyloto tour at a stadium in Sunderland last summer, I was fully back on board. It was freezing cold and pouring down with rain so we were soaked to the bone all day, but that almost made it better. They are so good, so everyone shut up (unless you agree – then by all means, keep talking! lolz).
In any case, Coldplay have unveiled a preview of their new track ‘Atlas’, which will be part of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack – the first time they’ve ever written a song specially for a movie. Woo hoo.
Catching Fire‘s director Francis Lawrence had this to say about Coldplay’s involvement:
“I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film,” director Francis Lawrence recently said of Coldplay’s involvement in the film.
“Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world.”
It’s a bit slow, but I like it well enough, and I can see it going well with the movie. What do you think?

Everyone is getting pretty excited for the big screen adaptation of Divergent, the awesome YA dystopian novel, and I can’t wait, either. While we’ve seen our first teaser trailer, the film now has its first featurette. Stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet and the book’s author, Veronica Roth, came together to discuss the adaptation, the premise, etc to continue to build momentum leading up to its release – which isn’t until March 2014, unfortunately.
Have you guys read the book? Will you see the movie? Obviously The Hunger Games started this whole trend, but there have been some other great, unique stories to come out of the genre and I think Divergent is one of them.

I loved Divergent and the follow-up, Insurgent – it’s a great YA dystopian book series by Veronica Roth in the vein of The Hunger Games (and only successful because of it). So of course they’re making a movie of it, because when the consumer seems to like something, we have to be sold 5,000 versions of it no matter how poor they are, how overloaded we are or anything. People will pay for it, and money rules everything, blah blah.
In any case, I’m not against a Divergent movie – but I am absolutely against Shailene Woodley, the chick who was cut from Spider-Man and whose claim to fame is that ABC Family show about teen pregnancy, playing the lead character, Tris. Tris is written as a strong, bad-ass female who is fearless and whose strength and courage allow her to not only go against her family’s grain but to fight a much larger enemy. I know Jennifer Lawrence can’t star in two franchises, but I could see her as Tris, for sure. I cannot see Shailene Woodley as Tris, and yet… she is. Ugh.
The point of this story is obviously that Shailene counted on Jennifer for some advice when approaching her role, which Jennifer graciously gave. She told reporters at Comic-Con (via DS):
“Jennifer Lawrence actually helped me with Divergent. I asked her how her life has changed, going from small independent movies to something as big as Hunger Games, and she gave me really beautiful advice which I really appreciated.”
I gotta say, I particularly worry about Shailene in this role because she doesn’t seem to “get it”. She told reporters a while back that Tris is nothing like Katniss because Tris isn’t a “bad ass”. Uh, yes she is. She has to leave her entire family and go against her family’s traditional faction in order to be true to herself and then learn to fight, go against enemies… why am I talking about this? This movie will probably be shit, and that’s a shame.
