BBC Radio 1 is a really great station – really a lot better than any of the American stations I’ve ever listened to – and they also get some great guests. Hugh Jackman has been hanging around lately, and he decided to play Radio 1′s “Innuendo Bingo” with one of their hosts, Scott Mills, and special guest host Kylie Minogue.
This doesn’t need much introduction – it’s just fun and amusing.
Time to celebrate Brits in all their glory with the 2014 Brit Awards. Let’s see which (mostly English) celebs wore what and wonder why. Then, single out some for BEST, WORST, and most WTF look of the night. (For more British fashion goodness, check out this BAFTA Awards fashion post.)
It’s kind of hard to dislike Kylie Minogue. She makes fantastic pop music and has done so for several decades now, does a lot of charity work, overcame cancer, works damn hard and is adorably pint-sized. She’s great – even though The Abbey Road Sessions was a terrible idea. In any case, I’m a fan, which is why it was exciting when Jay-Z announced this week that he’d signed her to Roc Nation.
“Roc Nation would like to welcome Aussie singer, recording artist, songwriter, actress and designer Kylie Minogue to the family. In a career now spanning 25 years, Kylie has released 11 studio albums, two live CDs, eight live concert DVDs, a greatest hits double album, and multiple video packages. She has released over 50 hit singles worldwide, including the Grammy-winning Come Into My World, and has sold more than 68 million albums worldwide. Needless to say, we’re excited to have Kylie join the Roc fam.”
It might seem like an odd pairing, but Jay-Z is known for his eclectic tastes, and this could be amazing. Maybe Kylie will go hip hop! Maybe Jay-Z will become a gay icon! The opportunities are endless.
It’s times like these where I lose hours of my life watching marriage proposal videos on YouTube while my Gay Bar playlist plays faintly in the background. I’m sorry, you’ve never listened to upbeat, mediocre music and watched other people’s happiest moments on the internet while you sit in your pajamas and cry over your own overwhelming loneliness? Well, excuse the fuck out of me.
Kylie Minogue performed her new single, “All I See,” on Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night.
You know, Madonna gets a ton of credit for being on the scene forever and constantly reinventing herself, but Kylie’s been around forever, too. She’s been through so much shit — including a bout with cancer — and she just keeps getting stronger in the face of it. I love her for that. As a reminder, I’ve also included here the video for “Locomotion,” her first single, which was released in 1987.
