… And interestingly enough, she’s the only woman in the Top 10. Others on the list are as follows:
#10 – Simon Cowell, $90 million
#9 – George Lucas, $90 million
#8 – James Patterson, $94 million
#7 – Howard Stern, $95 million
#6 – Tyler Perry, $105 million
#5 – Dr. Dre, $110 million
#4 – Jerry Bruckheimer, $115 million
#3 – Steven Spielberg, $130 million
#2 – Michael Bay, $160 million
#1 – Oprah Winfrey, $165 million
The monetary amounts are calculated by endorsements, profits, upfront pay and advertising work, and doesn’t even factor in whatever these people might be making off the books for … well, for whatever, really. When you’re making that kind of money, there’s lots of ways to fudge the numbers, I suppose.
When you’ve got it, you’ve got it, right? Damn.
What?! Oh, I’m sorry. I mean Forbes released their annual list of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, and being rich as hell isn’t the only thing that all the listed ladies have in common.
Here’s the rundown:
1. Sandra Bullock: $56 million
2. Reese Witherspoon: $32 million
3. Cameron Diaz: $32 million
4. Jennifer Aniston: $27 million
5. Sarah Jessica Parker: $25 million
6. Julia Roberts: $20 million
7. Angelina Jolie: $20 million
8. Drew Barrymore: $15 million
9. Meryl Streep: $13 million
10. Kristen Stewart: $12 million
While I’m super happy for all these ladies that they’re making some serious cake (especially Sandy B., who I will never deny anything), I can’t help but notice that this list is missing even one non-white woman. It’s far from a new observation that women of color are cast aside in Hollywood for “non-threatening”, blond, girl-next-door (if you live in the whitest suburb ever) types, but if you ever needed a reminder of how bad it is, then just give this list a second look.
If only paychecks were based on genuine talent…
Today Forbes released their list of the highest paid women in primetime and I’m sure that more than one of the names will completely shock you. Tyra Banks took first place with her America’s Next Top Model hosting gig (making over $30 million in a twelve month period), and was followed by the Snow Princess herself, Katherine Heigl, whose earnings will also shock you. The complete list is here:
- Tyra Banks: $30 million
- Katherine Heigl: $18 million
- Marg Helgenberger: $9.5 million
- Eva Longoria: $9 million
- Mariska Hargitay: $8.5 million
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus: $8 million
- Maura Tierney: $8 million
- Tina Fey: $7 million
- Marcia Cross: $6.2 million
- Jennifer Love Hewitt & Ellen Pompeo (tie): $6 million
For the most part these ranking make sense, except for Tina Fey’s #8 spot, as she also writes and produces her hit show 30 Rock. Also, Jennifer Love Hewitt can still rack in 6 million a season for a TV show? Who knew? Do people still care about her? I was unaware. I’m also a bit surprised that a Seinfeld alum like JLD isn’t worth more than Heigl, who beside being a complete brat on and off the set of Grey’s, only makes crappy romantic comedies these days.
